FREE TO PLAY THAT’S WORTH YOUR TIME
A fair and fun progression system turns the effort of building a competitive collection of cards into pure pleasure — simply collect new cards to build decks with as you play GWENT; no strings attached.
STUNNING, ALL ACROSS THE BOARD
Beautiful, hand-drawn art and mesmerizing visual effects breathe life into every card, battle and battlefield, making GWENT fun to play and every duel a joy to watch.
SKILL BEATS LUCK
Crush the enemy with brute strength or outsmart them with clever tricks — no matter your deck, GWENT’s unique round-based gameplay opens up a world of strategic possibilities to play with when fighting for victory.
MORE THAN ONE WAY TO PLAY
Whether it’s a quick online game against a friend, a highly competitive PvP challenge, or something new and wildly adventurous like the Arena, GWENT’s selection of game modes has got you covered.
EASILY SATISFYING, ANYTHING BUT EASY
Sling cards from your deck across two tactically distinct rows — melee and ranged. Gather more points in the duel against your opponent to win a round. Win two out of three rounds to win the battle. It won’t be easy, but no one said it should be.
NO HOLDING BACK, NO HOLDING HANDS
You start with 10 cards from your deck in hand, able to play each card right from the start. It’s up to you to open the game with your strongest unit, or save the best for later in the fight. How will your deck look and what will your strategy be?
The game requires an online connection to play and offers optional in-game purchases.
Update download is not fast enough in GOG.So I sigh up to GAEA.But now GWENT in Steam is available .Can we Chinese Got a chance transform to National server?
Easy to get new cards in free to play, cosmetis are the only really paid thing. This is very important for a card ecosystem to allow competition and new strategies. The only limit in gwent is how good you are.
Then how good is the card game itself, incredible. Deep strategies many types of leadres lead to different way to play even within factions all boosted by the really good cards that synergize with each other.
No matter you card play style this game will have you covered.
Gwent was already a fun minigame in The Witcher 3, but it's been refined and improved in this iteration. Not only is it an engaging and sophisticated card game, it's also very fair to people that don't want to spend money. This game can very easily be played without spending anything on it.
Having played a variety of free to play games over the years, I can say with confidence that this is the only free to play title I've ever played where you truly do not need to spend anything in order to enjoy the experience and even be competitive.
The only thing in this game that "requires" payment is the battle pass (called "Journey's in this game). But the free track will reward you with useful items to unlock other cosmetics and card crafting resources, which is obviously what the game is mostly about. If you care about the cosmetics then you will need to pay, but that's a choice you can make, you're not forced or pressured to buy the battle pass.
From a gameplay perspective, I find this to be the best CCG I've played (I've played TESL and Hearthstone). It's much better than the original Gwent mini game and it's very fun playing matches in this game. There is a lot of depth to this game with deck building and the competitive side of the title. While there are a few meta decks (these drive the competitive scene, and earn the ire of some players) there are many other strategies you can use instead of those. It all depends on how seriously you want to take the game. If you want to level up in ranked play, like myself, you may need to use more meta decks. But honestly, like all card games, RNG does play a part. How cards are drawn, and how you play your cards, you can win against a strong deck if you literally play your cards right. It's this edge of your seat moments that make the game exciting for me.
At the very least, give it a try, it is 100% free. It's a solid card game for serious and casual players alike.
Maybe it is a good game. Maybe it is not. I remember it as decent a while back and wanted to take another look.
Turns out I can't without disconnecting my hotas. Looked around a bit on the internet, seems that this issue is not specific to my device, but also affects controllers. For 4 years now.
If a bug that prevents people from even reaching the main menu lasts this long, it probably is here to stay.
Meaning the game is not.
PROS:
- It's beautifull (arts for grown ups rather that teens and lovely soundtracks)
- it's very rewarding (just start playing and you will get all cards soon)
- totally F2P no P2W
- Works well on mobiles as well as on PC
- it has large and supporting community with many events and tournamnets
CONS:
- it might get overwhelming for new player to get to know all cards as they are more and more of those and some descriptions are quite complex. I personally started long time ago and there are efforts to change that (tutorials starting decks etc.)
