FREE TO PLAY THAT’S WORTH YOUR TIME
A fair and fun progression system turns the effort of building a competitive collection of cards into pure pleasure — simply collect new cards to build decks with as you play GWENT; no strings attached.
STUNNING, ALL ACROSS THE BOARD
Beautiful, hand-drawn art and mesmerizing visual effects breathe life into every card, battle and battlefield, making GWENT fun to play and every duel a joy to watch.
SKILL BEATS LUCK
Crush the enemy with brute strength or outsmart them with clever tricks — no matter your deck, GWENT’s unique round-based gameplay opens up a world of strategic possibilities to play with when fighting for victory.
MORE THAN ONE WAY TO PLAY
Whether it’s a quick online game against a friend, a highly competitive PvP challenge, or something new and wildly adventurous like the Arena, GWENT’s selection of game modes has got you covered.
EASILY SATISFYING, ANYTHING BUT EASY
Sling cards from your deck across two tactically distinct rows — melee and ranged. Gather more points in the duel against your opponent to win a round. Win two out of three rounds to win the battle. It won’t be easy, but no one said it should be.
NO HOLDING BACK, NO HOLDING HANDS
You start with 10 cards from your deck in hand, able to play each card right from the start. It’s up to you to open the game with your strongest unit, or save the best for later in the fight. How will your deck look and what will your strategy be?
The game requires an online connection to play and offers optional in-game purchases.
The game is fun and addicting, and in contrast to many other card games it rewards skillful play and game knowledge. There is very little luck involved in this game, which is something I enjoy alot about it.
The main flaw of the game is how anti beginner friendly it is. The matchmaking for new players is horrible, and the starter decks are really bad. This makes it very difficult to get into the game. However, once your collection of cards starts growing this game becomes one of the most consumer friendly games out there. The amount of free stuff you get is insane (probably half of my collection I got only through playing), and the "reward system" in this game is pretty cool. You unlock points through playing matches and completing achievements that you then spend on different rewards.
Overall the game is great once you get into it, but it requires either a lot of patience or a bit of money to get there. The game is super consumer friendly, the developers are some of the least greedy out there (just handing out rewards constantly). The game recieves updates on a monthly basis, which, although not perfect, keeps the game quite fresh. I recommend everyone that enjoys card games to try Gwent out, and not give up on it immedietly.
I'm not a big fan of card games but I enjoy playing them. This said the problem with card games for me is if you had bad luck opening card kegs (packs) and try to play with fun decks there is big chance of you losing to "try hard" decks. In card games large amount of players copy decks from the web.
Gwent is different card game and that's something I can respect. Both players have 2 lanes in the game board melee and ranged. Both lanes have benefits some cards have special effects when you place them in melee lane, some cards have range of how far they can target their special attack, some cards have passive ability and so much more. Pretty neat. But how do you win the match (?) by having more "damage points" than your opponent and winning two rounds out of three. There's also arena mode.
Visually this is the best looking card game from the menu to the battlefield.
Some vocal minority seems very dissapointed at the Gwent homecoming update. I think it's great and has alot nice added gameplay. It also has alot of potential for the future. Looking forward to what the expansion brings!
10/10
TL;DR
PROS:
-Great graphics
-Good feel
-Good UI
-Gameplay is fun
-Seen interesting tactics
-Better than Hearthstone
-Well every game aspect is + for me must say
CONS:
-Opening kregs involves spamming alt+F4
-10 minutes opening 3 kregs
-DISCONNECTED
REVIEW: Will just explain what i wrote above. Game overall is great. Graphics are great and you can have animated version of card, everything has its tone and well... great graphics. UI is big factor to me and it is great but clunky like cant click while other thing is being clicked or something? It has that clunky feel. Audio great. Every other aspect is great.
Gameplay is good also but cant say much since iam not TCG player, I can say I hate hearthstone and I like Gwent. Only other TCG game i enjoyed playing was Migh and Magic TCG long ago. So I would rate game 4.5-4.7?
SO WHATS BAD: I would say my internet but FPS games work fine, connection tests like speed, ping and else are fine so its up to the game. So lets start with mild stuff like starting match (NOTE: This all happened in about 3-4 hours of game time so you get sense of timeframe). Match works fine but connecting to match SOMETIMES gets you to opening screen and disconnects you, not big hussle but annoying. Loading screen however IS. Know how GTA lets you wander whole county?/city? without loading? Well here every click needs loading. Deck builder? loading, Shop? loading, Quests? loading Rewards? loading, its not long (1-4 seconds) but its annoying since you do that a lot, its really annoying, game takes 1GB ram and I have 16, so taking 2 more for no loading times would be GREAT.
Worst game offense? OPENING KREGS TAKE AGES. You press open, take few seconds, you choose which card you want to take, gets stuck, you have to alt+F4, get back in game. Sometimes doesnt accept choice so open keg agin (same cards) and whole process again. 10 minutes to open 3 kegs. Iam very close to abandoning game and these 3 stars are generous. Game infuriates!
