Great concept, fun, low polish
A really fun battle shooter with a unique racing concept that features a whole bunch of interesting tracks with branching paths. Pickups are fun to use and varied, you get a lot of them too so the races are never boring. HOWEVER. The 'out of bounds' hitboxes are strangely positioned, sometimes you will get automatically reset while you could still save yourself and bounce back onto the track and sometimes they let you drive on the wrong part of the track / backwards (happens a lot in a game where your vehicle is constantly tumbling) for a few seconds before kicking in. One track in particular features a FX bug where every effect like missile explosions, reset animations and pickups eat up 90% of your frames for a split second which is horribly irritating. That being said there are still a lot of good sides to this game like the splitscreen multiplayer, a long campaign with rivals, lots of customization options for your tumbler of choice and a solid tutorial and explains the mechanics step-by-step.

Complex and complicated
Too complex. And I say this as an experienced player. Too many game modes not even explained very well. All the tracks and planets seem to be available right away, only the vehicles are unlocked with an experience-based mechanism that I don't like. The tracks all seem to be the same, and not even listed in order of difficulty. Gloomy. I would even say post-apocalyptic. And it is also incredibly complicated: getting off the road and finishing last is all too easy! It is not designed for controllers: there are too many controls and not enough buttons. The menus are convoluted, sometimes I have to take the mouse because it's hard to navigate, but even with the mouse figuring out where I need/want to go is difficult. The interface in the race is not bad, except when the malfunction effects start and you don't understand anything anymore.

4 Minutes Review
I went looking for WipEout and ended up downloading GRIP instead. 4 minutes recorded must be worth a download and retry because the gameplay looked awesome. Barely racing was also recommended so I'll probably Rate this game next.

I had F-Zero flashbacks.
Only reason it's a 4 out of 5 review is that sometimes it randomly crashes to Desktop. No error, no nothing. Just straight drop to desktop. And it closes quick, so quick it doesn't slow my PC down at all. This happens JUST enough to be annoying. Other than that, freaking TOP game, give it a try!
