Gothic 2 Gold Edition

This game is absolutely great, the world is alive and there are many dark and dangerous corners to explore. The combat system is a bit simplisitc, but certainly not ''poor'' or ''random'' My only problem is that i never got the game to run under Vista, which is sad because I'd love to play it again!

This game has everything a good RPG needs in it. A good story, diverse characters, a huge handcrafted world to explore (with no random loot), an innovative character development system and a lot of replayability due to the different factions you can join. The downside is, it is difficult when you play it for the first time. However, once you catch up on how it's done, it's a great experience, you wouldn't want to miss out on, if you call yourself a fan of RPGs.

I love old games, but Gothic 2 has terrible controls and graphic like PS1. Much games from years 1999 - 2003 has modern controls, Gothic 2 is hell on mouse and keyboard. ;-) I'm sorry but I cant play this game, maybe on gamepad it would be better but I Am PC gamer and Gothic 1, 2, 3 is horrible experience for me. Morrowind is terrible too. Good games, good worlds, but unplayable. Controls in Gothic and Morrowind was terrible 10 years ago and is still terrible today. ;-)

I had a lot of fun with this game as it ironed out a lot of the problems with the first one mainly the story in my opinion is greatly improved and the progression system as well. This game will last you a could 10-20 hours if you explore everything and do every quest which there are a moderate amount of especially in the first chapter. The first chapter is probably where you'll be spending most of your time, of course it had all the best things about the first game just with better visuals, sounds etc. Although the English voice acting isn't that great, however if you can look past all that this is a decent game to spend your time with

This game is a wonderful masterpiece. I'm then talking about Gothic II without Gold Edition/Night of Raven. I like the setting, the environment, the gameplay mechanics that allow the full screen to be used for the immersion of the game and staying out of your way. Some complain about the complexity and "clunkiness" but I found it very useful in getting out of your way and still allowing you to do what you want. The NOTR/Gold edition patch is not bad feature-wise, but I don't at all like the immersion being destroyed by, to give an example "We are attacked by DRAGONS" ... "Oh and by the way SOME PEOPLE HAVE GONE MISSING". The extra quests and characters seem glued into the story in such a way that it becomes rather strange and voices, although a good attempt has been made to have the sound and tone of the original for me has such a pitch change that I notice it so heavily that it becomes bothersome to listen to in some cases. I give 5/5 stars to the original game (which should be attainable from support if you buy gold edition). Gold edition/NOTR itself gets 3/5, it's playable but compared to the original it fails in its total immersion. I would recommend first playing the original and then Gold/NOTR if you wish. All in all, this game is a must buy and I can't recommend it enough. All RPG fans should try this gem of a game.
