Description
A comedy cosmic horror adventure made in Transylvania.

Darkham, with its crooked gambrel roofs, dark alleys, and a past shrouded in secrecy, never really was a welcoming place, but nowadays? Kooky cults are popping up everywhere, and that most evil book, the Necronomicon, is spoken of in trembling whispers once more.

Detective Don R. Ketype is on the case to retrieve the mysterious evil tome, but unsuspecting librarian Buzz Kerwan stumbles upon it and accidentally transforms his cat, Kitteh, into a walking, talking abomination. Being humanized? Quite a downgrade.

Gibbous is a comedy cosmic horror game - a modern adventure that is classically inspired, features gorgeous HD art, detailed traditional animation, and a lengthy story that will see the three protagonists travel around the world and deal with abominations both cosmic and human-made, voodoo, and Things That Should Not Be. From Lovecraft Country to Transylvania, set off on a quest to get a very cynical cat to stop talking.

• Over 60 hand-painted, detailed environments inspired by Transylvanian architecture and nature;
• Fluid traditional 2d animation with a Disney-esque look and feel;
• Two protagonists and a talking ca--- Okay, three. Three protagonists;
• Upwards of 70 fully voiced, crazy characters;
• Special guest appearance by Doug Cockle, voice of the Witcher;
• Contains most genuine Transylvanian accent in games and media, like, ever;
• Over 4 hours of lush original soundtrack featuring live instruments;
• A lengthy cinematic story that spans continents and more;
• Moment to moment humor, darker arching plot;
• Dynamic lighting, real time reflections and weather system;
• Integrated hint system to help you when you’re stuck;
• Fully animated cartoon cutscenes that punctuate important story beats;
• Over 12,000 voiced dialogue lines;
• Custom voiced responses for all the crazy combinations you can think of;
• Lovingly made near Vlad the Impaler’s birthplace;
• No cutesifying or making fun of the Old Ones, praise their Dark Names;
• Did we mention the talking cat?

Dark, wacky and most definitely fun!

Disclaimer: I am a little biased here because I backed this game and followed their kickstarter quite closely. I also attended a couple of their dev streams and the trio behind Stuck In Attic could not have been nicer. They cared about the backers as much as they did about their game. Right from the start you could feel this was a true passion project for them. And it makes me happy to see that all their dedication and hard work paid off. Considering it's their first proper game it's a really solid effort you'd normally expect from already established studios like Daedalic or KING Art. I am not a Lovecraft fan so there was always a bit of skepticism towards whether I would enjoy the game and I am glad to say that I did. The art style, the music, the wacky characters and the funny yet suspenseful story can easily match with the big dogs of the genre. They recorded several unique VO lines for basically every object you can interact with. Each screen you find yourself in shines with numerous little details and charming animations reminiscent of the 2nd Discworld game (but with much smoother animations). It's not a perfect game. Some situations and puzzle solutions did make me shake my head, the VO quality is a bit uneven and the jokes can come across a bit too forced. Also towards the end the story gets a little too weird and crazy for me. But despite those little gripes, it was a really enjoyable journey with nice little twists and turns. Normally I would give 5 stars but I have a feeling they can top this game with their next one, so I'm holding on to that 5th star for now.

Nice game

It's a nice game, that's it. The graphics are very good, although some animations while playing could be better. The story is good. It takes inspiration from the Call of Cthulhu, but then takes its own turn, which is a plus point for originality. The humour is nice, but nothing special. I've got the feeling I've been missing many of the references, but most of those I did get were mediocre. Overall, it snatched me a smile here and there, but nothing special. The negative point were the puzzles: too easy. I always knew what to do next, at no point I felt challenged. Some puzzles are just exhausting all the sentences of a conversation, then watch the following cutscene. It would be OK if the story was especially engaging etc. but, as I said, it's nothing special (although it's by no mean bad). Many times I just wanted to skip through. In the end, not a bad game but nothing special either.

Full of heart and soul

Clearly made with love. Feels like a return to the golden age of point and click adventures. Great animation, voice acting, and well designed. Puzzles are intuitive and fun and not too hard. Can't wait for the next adventure from these developers!

Fun point and click

The dialogue is funny, the artstyle is beautiful, characters are unique and interesting... and on top of that you have the whole Cthulu mythos combined with romanian culture.

Comedy+Cthulhu+Noir = 1 HELL of a game

A comedy adventure game about Cthulhu from a studio from Transylvania. The creators not only deliver on this exciting pitch, they really expand on this weird mix. The story follows a detective and a young librarian Buzz caught in the middle of an occult conspiracy involving Necronomicon. Helping them is Kitteh, Buzz's cat, possessed by a spell making her talk. Her agility and snide insight will be indispensible in their quest. Truly, Kitteh steals the show. Suspiciously staring at the cursor, or flawlessly shooting Buzz down every time, she is consistently THE most entertaining thing about the game - which is quite the ride in its own right. You'll travel far and wide. You'll meet a whole bunch of crazies with lots to talk about - to give you clues as well as some background lore, some flavor - or laughs. Just listen to Radio Garlic. The DJ banter goes on and and gets crazier by the minute. Similarly, Don's detective files feauture an extensive library of crazy bios - just for the heck of it. It's those little details... Speaking of: the art in Gibbous is a thing of beauty. The digitally painted locations pay homage to the otherworldly, eerie feel and the crooked geometries of 90's LucasArts games. The character animations are detailed and fluid, and the colors vibrant. The game's on the simplier side most of the time. Look around, ask around, or use the supernatural assistance at your current disposal - and you'll figure it out. Not much backtracking - and just a handful logical puzzles. Mostly, though, you'll McGyver your way out. I truly didn't expect an adventure THIS epic from a humble Kickstarter project. Adventure, twists and turns... Some really convincing horror, too. The Old Ones are not to be trifled with. Finally, there's some really touching drama, too *sniffle* If, like me, you look back fondly to grand adventure games of the 90s - full of ancient lore and magic, such as Fate of Atlantis, or Hand of Fate - here's the perfect game for you
