Detective Don R. Ketype is on the case to retrieve the mysterious evil tome, but unsuspecting librarian Buzz Kerwan stumbles upon it and accidentally transforms his cat, Kitteh, into a walking, talking abomination. Being humanized? Quite a downgrade.
Gibbous is a comedy cosmic horror game - a modern adventure that is classically inspired, features gorgeous HD art, detailed traditional animation, and a lengthy story that will see the three protagonists travel around the world and deal with abominations both cosmic and human-made, voodoo, and Things That Should Not Be. From Lovecraft Country to Transylvania, set off on a quest to get a very cynical cat to stop talking.

I am only 30 minutes into this game...so no spoilers.... except for: This is seriously one of the best poin-n-click adventure games ever. The Story, the animations, the voice overs, the humor. It honestly feels like I'm running an animated TV show. So rad. Also, has vibes of Kathy Rain, Darkside Detective, and Thimbweed park. Unless it goes completely wonky...I'm just going to give this five stars now...because even if eventually it does go south...the first 30 minutes were absolutely worth the admission price.
While Gibbous is not a perfect, game it has a lot of charm ,the same type that made old Monkey Island Games entertaining. Meta Jokes, Pop-cult references dream logic puzzles are all there but the game helps you just enough so you don't feel stuck. Characters are likeable the setting and design are beautiful. However the story does not stick the landing, the last chapter and the ending feels a bit like a very sudden and out of place shift in tone, and does not provide proper closure.
"Gibbous - A Cthulhu Adventure" is a fun point-and-click adventure game. It has a casual humor and the characters are lovably written. Especially the dialogues between Buzz and his cat are lively and rich. Kitteh still has a sarcastic touch in her statements. The animations are top class. I have rarely seen such beautiful backgrounds and drawn figures. Due to the engine used, even real-time shadows are displayed in the backgrounds. The puzzles are mostly simple to moderately difficult. Only with two or three puzzles I had to think a little longer. Due to the lightness of the puzzles I was in a nice game flow, that was very pleasant. I can only give the game top marks. The German text translation is very close to the English original and is fun. I would have only wished for one thing to make the whole thing even better: a German voice output. Anyway, a great game.
This is a real solid old school point & click set in a lighthearted, Cthulhu themed world. Voice acting is also solid all around, graphics are nice and music is good. Really, this game is the very definition of solid.
And it has a cat ....I mean, come on, a cat and cthulhu in the same game, that is pure awesome where I am standing. And did I mention it talks, because it does.
Took me around 7 hours to play through with 100% achievements, so for the price that is fair, especially when on sale.
If you are a point & click fan, this one shouldn't disappoint you.
