There was a lot of care put into making this fun and unique game and it shows.
Pretty much every character has at least a short individual backstory and every location was wonderfully crafted.
The sound and visual design are nothing short of amazing, especially considering the game's release date and the mechanics haven't aged at all.
Every mission offers a fair amount of challenge and requires some creative thinking.
There's a variety of locations to visit, ghosts to set free, and secrets to uncover, so get your spooks on and let the haunting begin!
I enjoy Ghost Master a lot, and my wife adores it. It's not incredibly deep, but it's a lot of fun balancing the various ghosts, figuring out how to unlock the hidden ghosts, playing through the same levels with different combinations, etc.
It's not particularly hard - tenacity will eventually get you through every thing. But it's fun, and has a great art style. It could have used a few more unique levels, with goals like scaring only a set of people, etc, but it's a heck of a lot of fun.
This game would be 5 stars if it came with the 15th and final "Bonus Mission": Class Of Spook 'Em High. Unfortunately, it was only available in a patch for the UK version so many of us never got to play it.

There is a lack of such ingenious games on the gaming market.
I'd say that Ghost Master is a pretty mediocre game with an interesting, and potentially very fun idea driving the whole thing. My biggest complaint about this game is the lack of control you feel. When I purchased this game, I was expecting to be laying down intricate traps to scare mortals, and be controlling an arsenal of ghosts. Instead you are limited to where you can place the spirits based on what there is in a room, or if it is inside or out, and so on.
These restrictions aren't awful, however it's the ghosts abilities that really killed it for me. The ghosts abilities work on a power band, the higher abilities costing more points to use, the lower ones are cheaper. When you choose an ability for a ghost to use, they wait for a timer bar to fill up, then may or may not cast the ability. People are constantly moving from room to room, and rarely pause, so it makes trying to set up a scare extremely frustrating as it amounts to you clicking in a room and hoping that someone will pass through at the right time.
I may be being a little unfair, as you can use spirits to lure people to certain rooms, and set requirements on abilities such as "only use when someone is present" but that just doesn't make the game any more fun. The scares are usually dissatisfying, and overall I feel more like I am playing the waiting game then anything else. I had some fun with the game considering I enjoyed the idea and seeing some horror movie influences within each level was novel, but it gets old fast. Wouldn't recommend it to most people.
