New and Improved

Deluxe Edition Includes:
  • Artbook
  • Soundtrack
  • Rocket Star Corporation DLC

In a near future ravaged by wars, corrupt regimes and devastating pollution, influential corporations have created the Genesis program in a last-ditch attempt to save humanity.

As the Captain of a Genesis starship, you journey into uncharted space on the ultimate mission. Build and manage a space vessel, farm resources, deal with terrifying alien infestations, clone creatures and explore a vast, randomly generated universe.

Go Rogue

Huge, randomised galaxies ensure every run in Genesis Alpha One is unique. Choose one of three difficulties or tailor the game to your playstyle with the Custom Game Mode. Discover new planets, circumvent asteroid fields and survive encounters with the Mechanics and Framen, space pirates who will board your ship to destroy your ship and all its inhabitants. Death is the end and once all your clones are dead, the mission is over. However, you will carry through artefacts unearthed into your next playthrough as well as unlock new corporations, making you more powerful with each attempt.

Build, Upgrade, Explore

Starting with a small vessel, you’ll have to build and maintain an intergalactic ark by combining dozens of upgradable spaceship modules including crew quarters, workshops, hangars, clone labs and greenhouses.
Using an intuitive building menu, easily snap together the pieces of your ship to tailor it to your playstyle. Develop your vessel and then explore your creation in first person.

Battle Alien Infestations

Alien infestations can spread quickly, contaminating the ship and crew. It’s imperative to wipe them out before you become overwhelmed and your ship is destroyed. An arsenal of weapons and defences can be researched to help you fight the alien threat. Unleash an array of powerful weaponry, research alien diseases to heal your crew, equip new abilities and deploy warbots to devastate the alien hordes.

Clone and Create New Lifeforms

As your ship grows, so must your crew. Using ground-breaking cloning technology, your crew will expand to meet the needs of the ship.
Loot DNA samples from the aliens you encounter across the galaxy and splice them with members of your crew to give humanity a chance to prosper with abilities far beyond what was previously imagined.

Delve Deep Into Vastness of Space For Valuable Resources

In order to expand your ship and sustain your crew, you must explore planets fraught with danger. Gather elements such as Copper and Uranium and harvest plants to sustain life aboard your vessel. You may also find alien artefacts and intel from those explorers that have gone before, and not lived to tell the tale.

My fav fictional game

Format: this game follows a supense and fictional enviroment like the Alien of Ridley Scot films. Your ship is always in risk to be invaded and infested by aliens and their eggs, while you must manage resourses, develop ship and weapons and explore new planets. The universe is procedural generated, and its always imprevisible what you'll find beyond the "black walls" of unexplored places. You have a support team that make the secondary activities on the ship. Each one of your crew counts like a "continue" when you die, for this reason, you must be replacing the death ones. You have a big arsenal with variety of weapons, but you can carry just types 2 hand guns and turrets and shields with you. The game have some bugs like IA dont enter in the underground, dont shoot down, etc, but its just a detail – it dont make the game too easy anyway: sometimes after a harvest or making use of the refinary, the aliens spores spreads far, making it hard to have control (sometimes in another floor). The enviroment is very cool: grafics, alien and suspense music... cold be better? Certainly! But I wouldn't give less than 5 stars, being one of my fav games

Really good and atmospheric roguelike

I am really impressed by this game. The mechanics are simple, yet deep. Being a huge fan of the first Alien movie, this roguelike has a similar horror / sci-fi vibe and I am really enjoying it. It runs well, graphics and animations aren't AAA's level, but it's alright (it's a mid-price game after all). Haven't encounter any game breaking bugs either. Really atmospheric, fun and with a satisfying gameplay loop, Genesis Alpha One is easily a 8/10 for me. Well worth the price.

Best Sci-Fi Roguelike I know

First of all, this review is based off from several hundred hours played on the Playstation 4 version of the game, so I can't comment on any technical issues for the PC version. How enjoyable/playable any particular run will be is down to how much you like random chance, since everything from what resources you find to your victory conditions are determined by the random number generator. Pros Good Replayability: While you will eventually start recognizing the various planets and ships, there is enough variance to make it unlikely to run into the exact same place multiple times. Additionally, how you complete a run can unlock options for later runs. Gameplay based Progression: Unlocking better starting corporations and items require you to get into the game and perform various actions and find the different weapons/upgrades/robots. This grants a lot of options for later runs, but you aren't forced to take any of these if you don't want to. Custom RNG: You can choose how resource dense or scarce the game is for different classes of resource, set how many rogue(hostile) ships are prowling the galaxy, and how many hazardous territories there are, as well as how difficult to initiate the Genesis Mission(End Game) is. Cons Erratic Difficulty: While the ingame threat analysis is mostly correct, some worlds and debris fields are much more dangerous than stated. The lack of infestation detection without use of relatively rare upgrade components and extreme danger of certain infestations exacerbates this issue. Braindead A.I.: Whether it be on planetary expedition or shipboard defense, your A.I. crew often don't engage until hostiles are in near melee range or after they have been shot, and tend to have bad aim. Additionally, they sometimes ignore infestations on the ship that they should clear out, as they are not under decks. Still, Genesis Alpha One is a game I would recommend to any looking for a good Sci-Fi Roguelike.

Notable merits, not enough.

Game feels tremendously underbaked. This is the EXPECTATION of survival games, and games with high concepts. I gave Genesis Alpha One a pass on being crude for a curious basebuilding concept, and broadly intriguing notions of an FTL-like experience, but somewhere along the line it set an expectation that this would be an experience best shared with a team of human players. This game has no support for multiplayer, despite... looking for all the world like a game intended for a player-run crew. Frustrated and alone, this went back on the shelf immediately.

A very fancy version of 'Duskers'.

This old and buggy version of the game is a pain to play. There is no warning, no alarm, no notice of 'problems'. Constant patrol by the player is necessary. You start with no tech and no resources. It's a 'dying is fun' game.
