Sins of the fathers

This game introduced me to the magic of Ms. Jensens talent for interweaving of fact amd fiction. I have been hoping this game would reappear for later versions of windows and here it is. Hopefully, my favorite game of all time =, The Beast Within, will appear soon. G

A great voodoo crime story

I really love settings with voodoo, sadly it's rather uncommon. Gabriel Knight was the first computer game I ever played that really brought the feeling of a strange and unknown threat over for me. It's also one of my favourite adventures, due to the atmospheric graphics, and the user interface was very nice for the time (compared with today's standards it's a bit sloppy, though). But what shines most, even today, is the story telling. I just HAD to keep playing to know how it ends. The first part is really my favourite, I didn't really come to terms with the second Gabriel Knight game, since it was like those terrible playable movies. Part 1 really aged much better the pixel art still looks fantastic. Would play this again and again. :)

Plain simple: a classic you must play

Gabriel Knight 1 is just a classic: you've got to play it in your life, no matter what. It is a masterpiece of story and atmosphere, that sucks you in and that you'll never forget. Sure, there are bad moments (the silly "real-time" parts could have been avoided), but apart from those, it's the overall experience that matters. And at the end, you will be glad to have been part of such an epic story, that unfolds piece by piece, with an underlying sense of tension that few other games managed to create.

This game is a classic

I still have my cd around here somewhere but I repurchased it such an awesome game and great voice acting by Tim Curry as Gabriel Knight. If you want to own this game I suggest buying the original the remake just looks too polished to me just doesn't have the charm that this one has. Not to mention no Tim Curry as Gabriel Knight in the remake. Yes I admit it I'm a huge Tim Curry fan :)

Geaux Gabriel!

At this point I'm just one of the choir, but that's OK - this game is terrific. It was great back when it first came out, and it still has the goods. Playing the original Gabriel Knight in the modern day does require a small adjustment to headspace - big crunchy pixels! and sound that is occasionally balky - but the story is satisfying, the gameplay is good, and the voice acting is simply stellar. I played this game when it first came out, back when the whole world was made of big crunchy pixels and balky sound, and enjoyed it a great deal (though I didn't finish, and got stuck a lot). I wasn't sure if it would still be fun, these 20 years later - and I'm glad to say that it really is. Once you get used to the blunt tools of the day, the great game is still intact and ready to take you on a ride. I could say more, but it's all already been said, and a hundred times over. This is a joy of a game, from a time when developers were boldly stepping out to try new things. It feels fresh and alive, and I just finished it - I'm ready to recommend it heartily.
