Enhance your Frostpunk experience - buy Season Pass now to save 30% on all DLCs and get the Frostpunk soundtrack for free.

"(...) this is a game about finding reasons to survive rather than just the means to go on living."

- Adam Smith, Rock, Paper, Shotgun

"In a steampunk ice age, the only thing that can be crueler than the bitter cold are the decisions you have to make to keep your people alive."

- Stephanie Chan, VentureBeat

"(...) decisions push your morality to its limits for the sake of productivity, which could make for an captivating, draining adventure when the game releases later this year."

- Suriel Vazquez, Game Informer

In an ultimately frozen world, people develop steam-powered technology to oppose the overwhelming cold. The city ruler has to manage both the inhabitants and the infrastracture the citizens live in. Leader’s tactical skills face challenges, frequently questioning morality and the basic foundation of what we consider an organized society. Here optimization and resource management often clash with empathy and thoughtful decision-making. While city and society management consume most of the ruler’s time, at some point exploration of outside world is necessary to understand its history and present state.

What decisions will you make so the society can survive? What will you do when pushed to the limits? And...

...who will you become in the process?

THE CITY MUST SURVIVE

Frostpunk is a city-survival game where heat means life and every decision comes with a cost.

MAINTAIN THE HOPE

Survival is about hope and will to live. Your ability to spark and maintain these two in your people will be a determinant factor for success.

MAKE THE LAW

Society is a group of people abiding the same rules and sharing similar beliefs. Establishing laws and customs will be a crucial factor shaping your society.

WEIGHT YOUR CHOICES

Will you allow child-labour? How will you treat the sick and wounded? Frostpunk challenges a player’s tactical skills, while questioning one’s morality.

EXPLORE

The world covers not only bits of the past but also the potential means to secure the future of your people.

Not at full potential.

I like what is here. The game is dripping in atmosphere and the beginning of a great city builder is there but unfortunately that's all it feels like. A beginning. The scope is small and is begging for the team to give it a larger scope. I still recommend it but be warned that it's a one and done affair across the board. I would love see this dev take this idea and bring it to a much larger scale with more of everything. Right now it's just a bit too linear? I guess that's the word. It's hard to describe. It's like a telltale game in that your first time through is magical but subsequent playthroughs feel pointless. That's a shame. Not a mark of a great game but of one that just crosses the bar of being something special. We need more meat on these bones.

...we haven't gone too far. We survived.

I just beat the campaign on my second attempt (after an utterly catastrophic first run), and it was one of the most nerve-wracking, heartbreaking, maddening, difficult, hopeful, exhilarating, and ultimately cathartic gaming experiences I've ever endured. When the weather broke, and the temperature started to rise again, I clapped my hands together, gleefully exhausted and triumphant exclaiming: "we did it. WE MADE IT." We. I completely absentmindedly said we. I had become so engrossed and attached to my city, that I genuinely felt it was somehow a collective effort. I wasn't just some sort of floating omnipotent demi-god controlling everything; I was one of them. And we did it. I'm not sure how much replayability it has, but it's one of my favorite games I've ever played through. It has some wonky interface decisions, and a few quirks here and there, but everything else? The decisions-space, the strategy and tactics, the atmosphere and world-building? Superb, in my opinion. Even if it was JUST the single campaign, I feel that it would be worth the full price (which is what I paid), but it has, in addition, 5 more scenarios and an endless mode. It might just be the best city-builder I've played. That feeling of incredible satisfaction when things start falling in place after a seemingly impossible start, only to constantly be worrying about if/when they are going to fall apart is a rush. I don't know any other game quite like it. Also, that Tesla guy got what he deserved.

So Fun!

I bought this recently when it came out for Mac. After some trial and error, I sat and played the "New Home" scenario in 2 long sittings. I love games like Tropico, and this provided the same kind of experience in a new environment with new challenges. Would highly recommend for fans of the genre.

Can't wait for Frostpunk 2

I invested way too many hours in this game. It's VERY fun and VERY unforgiving. Brilliant!

Great game, although somewhat short

This a serious game for serious players! The only downside in my view: Right now the main campaign is surprisingly short and the game has no option to let you continue playing your city after the campaign finishes. However the developers have already announced an endless mode will be coming!
