"(...) this is a game about finding reasons to survive rather than just the means to go on living."

- Adam Smith, Rock, Paper, Shotgun

"In a steampunk ice age, the only thing that can be crueler than the bitter cold are the decisions you have to make to keep your people alive."

- Stephanie Chan, VentureBeat

"(...) decisions push your morality to its limits for the sake of productivity, which could make for an captivating, draining adventure when the game releases later this year."

- Suriel Vazquez, Game Informer

In an ultimately frozen world, people develop steam-powered technology to oppose the overwhelming cold. The city ruler has to manage both the inhabitants and the infrastracture the citizens live in. Leader’s tactical skills face challenges, frequently questioning morality and the basic foundation of what we consider an organized society. Here optimization and resource management often clash with empathy and thoughtful decision-making. While city and society management consume most of the ruler’s time, at some point exploration of outside world is necessary to understand its history and present state.

What decisions will you make so the society can survive? What will you do when pushed to the limits? And...

...who will you become in the process?

THE CITY MUST SURVIVE

Frostpunk is a city-survival game where heat means life and every decision comes with a cost.

MAINTAIN THE HOPE

Survival is about hope and will to live. Your ability to spark and maintain these two in your people will be a determinant factor for success.

MAKE THE LAW

Society is a group of people abiding the same rules and sharing similar beliefs. Establishing laws and customs will be a crucial factor shaping your society.

WEIGHT YOUR CHOICES

Will you allow child-labour? How will you treat the sick and wounded? Frostpunk challenges a player’s tactical skills, while questioning one’s morality.

EXPLORE

The world covers not only bits of the past but also the potential means to secure the future of your people.

AMAZING

I really enjoy this game. The sense of running against time is amazing. Even being pretty bad at it, I like to see how the game changes depending on how you choose to deal with some situations.

Not bad, just not for me.

As someone whose not really into city builders it was fun/enjoyable for a few hours but got boring once my city started to become more stable. When it's on sale at £2.50 I would recommend picking it up, very low price for a good game, especially if it's more of your style.

Remarkable parable on limits of humanity

I REALLY enjoyed this game, even though it was very unkind to me. Actually, that was why I enjoyed it. Frostpunk starts out as an exciting ~apocalyptic city builder. You spend most of your time directing resource gathering, building, and research, and you intermittently send expeditions into the wild to seek out resources or learn more about what has happened / is happening to the world. I don't play a lot of games like this (city building games), but I think many are initially addictive in the same way. The way this game differed is that a story developed over the course of the game that ultimately confronted my naive optimism with a harsh reality I wasn't expecting. I feel I learned a fundamental lesson in the process about the limits of of what a civil group of people can achieve and about circumstances that can lead to societal collapse. Needless to say, my dudes all died. I do not intend to play again and try to do better, because this was really a wonderfully bad time, and my failure felt like the definitive experience.

Nice game witch a lot to be desired

First of all, I like the game. I played for 15 hrs and was intrigued by the setting, word-building and visuals (and for just 2$ an hour it's a good experience). But as mentioned in the title, there are some rather unpleasant issues with the game, that need to be addressed: 1: The UI could be much better, because you cannot see how many people are worker, children, etc. and whether they're available or not, as well as several missing notifications or hints about ongoing events. 2: On the gameplay side of things, lies in my opinion the greatest weakness, with a ton of unused potential, like the missing endless mode where you are not limited to the "crater" and exploration looks more like in fallout shelter instead of beeing just scripted for the main story missions. 3: Meaningful and morally engaging decisions like in 'this war of mine', are no where to be found. You got a sort of the skill tree and depending on what you leveled, different popups with negative or positive effects on the hope and discontent bars will guide you through the game. In conclusion I can say, that I had plenty of fun for my money and it is depending on your preferences a worthwhile experience. But there are still some flaws which need to be fixed but they laid a solid foundation to make this game excellent with some updates. "solid 5/7"-IGN (please excuse any spelling or grammatical mistakes, english is not my native tongue)

the snow is deep not the content

I was one of the first who bought the game, and after ... about 4-5 hurs game play finished it. I do love the concept, but whoever I ask where are they in the game now, just deep cold silence is the answer. Refound requested (I'm sorry, I don't want to pat £25 a nice "screensaver")
