Forgotton Anne

This game is beautiful, with really neat characters. However, the mechanics, at least on my Windows 10 PC, leave something to be desired. The controls weren't responsive enough for me to make a particular jump - the opportunity was gone before it was physically possible for me to make the attempt. It would be nice if GOG tested their games adequately on various platforms before selling them. The glitch cost me good money.

It seems like a lot of attention was given to the story and animations. However, I wish as much time and attention had been given to the controls and overall feel of the gameplay. It plays very stiffly and slowly, leading to my boredom. The option to speed up dialogue, but not skip through it with a single button press seems like a major mistep. I think these developers would be better at making high quality animated productions instead of games.

Forgotton Anne is essentially what happens if somebody decided to make an 8 hour interactive Studio Ghibli movie. It's basically an impossible to fail puzzle platformer, but the gorgeous visuals, lovable characters and amazing orchestral soundtrack make for an experience far greater than the sum of its parts. Anne's journey is one that definately shoudn't be forgotten.

i'd call it a story driven adventure with a lot of platforming and a few puzzles. the controls aren’t the most precise, that could be pretty frustrating, if the platforming parts were harder. nice anime style and good soundtrack. interesting and creative world, the story itself isn’t very surprising, but good enough to keep you playing, and some choices you make will alter the story a bit, so there’s some replay value too. the length is okay too, aroung 8 hours.

The hand drawn artstyle and story is already worth the game, gameplay is fun and quirky.
