Great game, not being updated...

Love the game, plays like an idle clicker game but made into something like Harvest Moon/Stardew Valley without the character interactions. Unique, fun, highly addictive - especially once your engines are rolling and you're producing like crazy! That being said, I was super bummed to discover the GOG version hasn't been updated in quite some time whereas the version on another platform was updated as recently as Feb 2020. The current GOG version as of this review is 4.0.3 whereas the other is 4.1.3 and has had quite a few significant bug fixes. The dev hasn't responded to any requests from multiple people to update the GOG version. Unless the game is being updated here, I cannot really recommend buying it, I wish I had known before putting so much time into it...

Can't stop playing!

Ever since I touched the demo, I wanted to play the complete game. It's addictive...only got it for 1 day and I didn't sleep much and i'm already passed level 50 and bought all the map. Love the progression and skill system but I didn't expect it to go so deep. The puzzles add fun to the game. Still can't resolve 2 of them but i'm going to work on it until I find it myself. It's a good game for the price and I can't wait to see what they add to it in the future since there's a roadmap for future updates directly shown in the game. Also, there's so many tributes to other old and recent games but I will let you find them out for yourselves. Great start for Hopfrog.

addictive but...

...way too little content to justify the 20bucks. at this rate, the game is offensively expensive.

Little crafting experience

After 21,5 hours forager classic mode divided into many days I suddenly stopped playing. I had skill 36/64, 34/49 islands, hero quests 28/103, ... Till then I had a nice time, suddenly everything turned to become repetitive, boring and dull. Should I invest more time to be able to see the rest of it or not? I think, there are much better games out now and I decided to kill this game from the hard disk and I am not willing to come back. To me it seems, that the game was artificially lengthen or that they didn't put enough resources into the long test phase. Forager is a cute litte charming and below average game with minor faults. I would give it 2,5 stars, if possible. The pixaleted graphic style adds some character. At first the sound track is nice. There are only a few tracks, which were repeated in a permanent loop. Be warned: sometimes hours after playtime I still had the main hypnotic melody in my head. Buy it cheap in a sale and have some fun for a while, but don't expect too much.

Short and addicting

A fun and addicting game about gathering resources and refining them into better ones. You use these resources to upgrade your character's gear, build stuff and do some quests as well. There are some puzzles and dungeons in the game too. After finishing what i feel is the majority of the game, with only the super duper grindy stuff left, i feel good about the experience. And checking out the extras after i finished playing there was this heart warming story about the main dev of the game and his struggle to find his way as a game developer, so that made me feel even better for buying the game. The devs are also still working on the game and adding to it. Some tweaks would be nice. Such as better volume controls (the sound effects are loud even on the lowest setting). A zoom out button. More music. I also feel that the late game was the weakest point of my experience. The game basically plays it self, which is kind of the point, but also it was a little boring. Still a very nice indie title worthy of a 5 star rating.
