great game but some audio issues

Let me start off by saying that I love flower, i've played both the ps3 and ps4 copies. However I've already noticed one issue that was a reason why i loved the game. on the ps versions the sound that plays when you collect a flower was a sound from the score, however with this port its just a harsh sounding noise and not a natural sound from an instrument in the song playing. Compared to whats in the other versions it just sounds weak and un-natural. Performance wise i cant really say much since my Pc is well above the specs so obviously it runs well. Controls feel odd but i'm also very used to using the motion controls of DS3/DS4 controllers but its good enough on the xb1 controller minus some ocassions where the flower will just slowdown despite holding the thrust button, controls steering will take some getting used to but its good enough considering the game is only 5$. Visually it still looks good and the score itself still sounds great minus the issue mentioned above so overall i'd say it's easily worth the 5$. TL;DR Good port minus some immersion breaking audio issues but for 5$ can't go wrong with a ps3 classic

Great port of a great game

So glad to be able to play again to this gem. This was my go-to game to meditate while playing. The port is faithful to the original game, with added graphical options. With a DS4 controller, there is even an option in the controller settings to bring back the tilt controls (which is one of the only Playstation game where it made sense). The audio notes seems kinda rough in the first level, but I didn't notice it in the other ones. Whether you already own the original game but don't want to dust off the old console, or never played it, I can only recommend it.

A classic, but has it lost something?

I've been a big fan of games from thatgamecompany since the launch of the PS3. From fl0w, through Flower and Journey. I've also enjoyed the games on many devices. Flower, for example, I own on PS3, PS4, iOS and now PC. This PC version is the only one where I've felt that the feel has been lost somewhat. Everything has been ported faithfully, but i think it's the controls. Incidentally, I have a PS4 joypad connected to my PC. Firstly, without the giroscope, and using the analogue stick, it feels more like I'm a quick reacting petal that can fly. Rather than the more reactive petal being blown around by the wind. That's the feel I get with giro controls. The way you can zip around and change direction feels different to the original intent. I also notice that I need to 'push down' more to keep low to the ground. But a result of that is your petal almost 'sticking' to the ground and losing a lot of speed. Stop pushing down, and it floats up from the ground, missing some of the flowers you want to collect. If the devs could implement giroscope controls (for pads that have it), that would be great. The second issue I have with the controls is 'acceleration'. Both the single speed, and the single button implementation of it. All PS buttons are analogue, and not being able to fly with analogue speeds also loses something. It's quick or float, with no inbetweens. And on top of that, you get to only configure one button to accelerate. Again, in the originals, all buttons do the same thing. No configuring, and if I want to switch buttons, you just can. Despite these control issues (for me at least)(, it's a beautiful game and looks gorgeous at 120fps+. Very happy to have purchased it and own it. Devs, if you get to see this. Please consider these comments. I feel they're part of the soul of Flower.

A simple game to lift your spirit

“When daisies pied and violets blue And lady-smocks all silver-white And cuckoo-buds of yellow hue Do paint the meadows with delight,” ‘Love’s Labours Lost’ (5.2.23 – 26) I started playing ‘Flower’, thinking it’d be a relaxing game for me to relieve stress. And why wouldn’t I? Look at those screenshots and videos of flying petals and swaying grass! Check out the dreary, monochromatic landscape transforming into lush, colourful terrain as the petals swoop by! For a while, ‘Flower’ was indeed relaxing, washing away the stress that weighed down on my shoulders. I love how, beneath its floral veneer, the game really just has you flying through “rings”, with the rings being flowers. This is really not a bad thing because this simplicity – along with no time limits and no deaths – makes ‘Flower’ easy to play and enjoy. Then I realized there’re secrets to discover in the game, like finding a secret flower and a hidden path. After that, ‘Flower’ was no longer the relaxing game I anticipated, for I was constantly looking for secrets, and hunting down the next achievement. But, as I hunt down the achievements with great anticipation, I once again find my spirit being lifted by the floating petals and blooming flowers. No wonder I find ‘Flower’ such an appealing game.
