How I miss the 90's

Ok so let me start off by saying that during the 90's I missed out on a lot of adventure games because nobody I knew owned a PC. I was busy on consoles playing Sonic until I went to a friends house and saw the box. It looked interesting and I knew it was an adventure game I was curious. Fast forward to now and I finally got around to playing it. First of all, kudos to GOG for handing this out for free when they could have easily charged money for it. I appreciate that. The reason I gave it three stars was because I dont really play adventure games very often. It's not a bad game but you can clearly see that thinking outside the box is not enough its more like setting said box on fire, throwing it into the ocean and then firing a rocket propelled grenade at the box. They often require you to do things which fall outside of logical thinking. Like if there is a monkey blocking your path instead of giving the banana to the monkey you are required to listen to its life story. ( I know what a red herring is before you object) I think back to the time when tip lines were a thing and they must have been raking it in with people calling in. These games were made by true evil genius. The voice acting is great however and its nice to see one of the old games restored to working order so that young whippersnappers can see what we had to deal with back in the day.

If you like LucasArts, get this one

This game was the only game developed by Interactive Binary Illusions, and that's a shame, because this is a great game! It is so faithful to the art style and writing style of Monkey Island 1 and 2, The Last Crusade, and the Fate of Atlantis, that you won't believe you aren't playing a game that LucasArts made! The art is beautiful, the characters, animation, and voice acting are all great, and the music, too! This is from 1995, and that was the pinnacle point of adventure games, as far as I say. If, like me, you loved LucasArts adventures, but have never heard of this one, you it to yourself to play this game. You will be glad you did.

A labour of love!

Do not miss this game, I would recommend it even if it wasn't free (for a reasonable price, of course) This is truly a labour of love, from a handful of people (2 or 3 I think) who were gamers themselves and wanted to create something like those games they really liked to play. It could have easily been a Monkey Island - Indiana Jones hybrid from back in the day! Memorable stereotypical characters, deliciously one-dimensional, along with wise-crack humor, fun riddles, and exotic locations, it has a "LucasArts" feeling written all over it. Even the opening sequence reminded me of "Sam'n'Max Hit the Road". What are you waiting for? It's free! You should be playing it already!

A missed gem

This is a clear inspiration by the Indiana Jones and The Fate of Atlantis. The puzzles are logical, unlike the Monkey Island craziness, which I liked very much. And the humor. Some objects in the game are nonetheless very well hidden and the slow walking speed makes the game more tedious. But the game is very entertaining. Wish I played it back then in 1997 when I played Indy4. There's nothing quite like it!

Hidden gem of golden age adventure games

FOTAQ never found its audience due to a botched release at the tailend of the adventure gaming's popularity during the 90s, which is tragic, because this is a great game! While not on the level of a LucasArts adventure game from the same era, the designers were clearly aiming at that level of quality and come pretty close to matching it. The graphics are comparable to that of "Indiana Jones and the Fate of Atlantis" or "Monkey Island." The puzzles, while a little obtuse at times, flow well with the story. The characters and story are superficially a bit derivative of Indiana Jones because of the setting, but its sense of humor is consistently charming and cheeky, backed up by some strong voice acting. There's also a bit more sexual innuendo than the LucasArts brand of adventure game - not Leisure Suit Larry level raunch, it's definitely family friendly, but there's an amusing level of naughty humor on display. The designers were real saucy Aussies - it's nice to have an adventure game protagonist with a libido (who isn't necessarily Leisure Suit Larry.) I don't know why this game is available for free, but don't let that trick you into thinking it's worthless! If you love 90s adventure games, this is a real treat just waiting to be discovered (at long last) by fans of the genre.
