I am running Linux Mint 16 - KDE - 64 bit. I loved this game when I first played it on Windows way back when it first came out. The tracks and music really sold it to me. The bonus games were like extra topping on an already awesome sundae.
For single-player users, this game if Fun with a capital F. This game gets the fun of computer racing pitch-perfect! Driving around varied tracks, adjusting for steering and sliding as your car gets knackered, watching your engine burst into flames . . . this game sucks you in and makes you want to play another track!
The FOv2 for GOG mod is recommended. The v2 game is still basically stock, but there are some graphical tweaks and bug fixes that are worthwhile.
Unfortunately, multiplayer for this game game doesn't work on modern versions of Windows. I have Windows 8.1 64 bit, he has Windows 10 64 bit. For both of us, trying to host or join a multiplayer game just crashes the program completely. We've tried the recommended fixes: fov2 plus FlatOutNet still has exactly the same problem. Since we can't use this game for multiplayer, minus 1 star.
However, this game is still highly recommended for single-player use!
FlatOut is a great little racing game. Everything is this game is around average. You will not be broke after buying it and you'll get a good time in return. The only negative I can think about is that the oppenents aren't really competitive nor hard.
Its... OK... ish...
I started playing on professional, bronze all 1st... but is not worth it. Just play on Normal !! About 18h for me :)
There are some cheeky shortcuts on some of the race tracks, use R quick :)) ,drivetrain upgrade :) and so on...
The collision physics are sometimes rly stupid... most of the times :( Drive safe, use breaking, avoid crazy AI :))
This title would had been rly fun with friends :) to wreck eachother :)) and destroy the AI :))
But the multiplayer network I dont think is working (stated on gog shop page single only) and the multiplayer hotseat seems very lame :(
So... get it on a rly rly low discount, if you want, or get it on a future giveaway... if will be :))
Fun but annoying :))
And I would like to mention even if requirements says that intel video cards isn't supported
Its working very well with my integrated intel GPU, I think the statement could be because of an old but fixed Wine compatibility issue? related to intel cards I guess
