Description
FTL: Advanced Edition features:
- New systems, playable ships, alien race, weapons, drones, and more!
- A new sector with new events, written by Tom Jubert and special guest writer Chris Avellone!
- New music by Ben Prunty!

Did you ever want to reroute power to the shields, set phasers to stun, or even eject the warp core? Well, now you can! In FTL, you experience the atmosphere of running a spaceship trying to save the galaxy. It's a dangerous mission, with every encounter presenting a unique challenge with multiple solutions. What will you do if a heavy missile barrage shuts down your shields? Reroute all power to the engines in an attempt to escape, power up additional weapons to blow your enemy out of the sky, or take the fight to them with a boarding party? This "spaceship simulation roguelike-like" allows you to take your ship and crew on an adventure through a randomly generated galaxy filled with glory and bitter defeat.

FTL's complex strategic gameplay allows you to give orders to your crew, manage ship power distribution, and choose weapon targets in the heat of battle. You will encounter unique alien lifeforms and technology. You can upgrade your ship and unlock new ones with the help of six diverse alien races. Be the Captain you want: hundreds of text based encounters will force you to make tough decisions. In the randomized galaxy each play-through will feature different enemies, events, and results to your decisions. Each time you play another challenging session of FTL: Faster Than Light, it won't be quite the same.
  • Unlimited adventures in the vast depths of unpredictable space.
  • A new randomized galaxy to explore each time you start a new game.
  • Quick play sessions (from 5 to about 90 minutes) will allow you to add that spaceship commander feeling to any of your days.

Nethack in space :)

I wasn't very impressed by the game initially, especially by it;s nonsense trailer and 10$ price-tag. Now that GOG is running it at 6$ I decided to give it a try. It starts with a nice a short tutorial afterwards you're thrown in the deep. After my third death on easy mode I've reached the final boss under an hour of play. :) In addition, the game presents a progressive disclosure where various ships and goodies are unlocked based on some achievements. Highly recommended :)

Brilliant game

This wasn't even on my radar, even though I've enjoyed games like Privateer in the past. However, after seeing it on sale and reading the numerous glowing reviews, I thought I would try it out. It's fantastic - addicting, simple yet complex . . . I've played a few times and still haven't made it to the final sector. One small negative that will be fixed soon - the game is native 720p. Not an issue for me, but my cousin still has an old CRT monitor, and the game wouldn't work for him.

My Simple Addiction

I don't have a clue what the roguelike genre is, but what I do know is that I love this game. There's nothing to the story, the graphics are meh, the music is forgettable, the sound is standard fare, but the fun factor is unmatched. It takes an hour or two to play through it once, but when you're done, you want to pick it right back up and play it again. "Replayability" is what this game should be called because each iteration through the game is an entirely different playing experience. I am honestly addicted to this title. It's crack for the mind... and I need another fix.

An Instant Classic

Don't listen to those people crying about difficulty and blind choices! There's just SO much for new players to learn. Also, the difficulty settings are poorly labeled. The game says Easy and Normal when it should say Normal and Hard. The only reason I can't give this five stars is because of the absurd randomness. Had many encounters where I was vastly superior to my enemy but all my shots would miss. Then I'm searching forever for a store the game never gives me. Everything else in this game is simply perfect. The art assets are gorgeous, the sounds are perfect and most of the music was so good I would just sit and listen. I often found myself wanting to explore so I could read more about the factions and races. There's 9 ships total each with an alternate layout. There's 7 races to collect as crew for your ship. Not so many achievements but hundreds of weapons, ship mods and upgrades. If that's not enough FTL also has a very active modding community. Please don't think I'm being biased. I actually HATE rogue-like games with a passion and kind of felt the same about FTL at first. But after logging 187 hours I can already tell this will be a game that I'll be coming back to again and again for years to come. And for 10 bucks, what more could you really ask for?

`One more go` game!

Well you are given a ship and 3 crew. You are running away from the `rebels` who are swarming the Galaxy to deliver an important secret something to the `Federation`. You come across enemy ships to fight and parley with and a few rpg-ish situations to deal with while traversing the Galaxy on your way to the Federation. The meat of the game is in battles and if you are familiar with StarTrek or most futuristic media of the kind you`ll get a good idea how this goes... You are attacked by a pirate ship. You raise shields, power your weapons and race your people to the correct departments to speed up efficency while the enemy does the same. You penetrate his shields with your phasers, then disable his guns, then finally targeting his engines and blowing him up. You`ll come across better equipped ships. For example a ship comes along and teleports attackers on to my ship. They can be a pain, wrecking your systems and destroying you until I quickly learned to immediately isolate the room the attackers teleported into, then opening the ship doors and watching them suffocate space! You can upgrade a lot, improving all systems, weapons, shields etc and pay for or find new members. Excellent simple yet complex `one more go game`.
