Description
FTL: Advanced Edition features:
- New systems, playable ships, alien race, weapons, drones, and more!
- A new sector with new events, written by Tom Jubert and special guest writer Chris Avellone!
- New music by Ben Prunty!

Did you ever want to reroute power to the shields, set phasers to stun, or even eject the warp core? Well, now you can! In FTL, you experience the atmosphere of running a spaceship trying to save the galaxy. It's a dangerous mission, with every encounter presenting a unique challenge with multiple solutions. What will you do if a heavy missile barrage shuts down your shields? Reroute all power to the engines in an attempt to escape, power up additional weapons to blow your enemy out of the sky, or take the fight to them with a boarding party? This "spaceship simulation roguelike-like" allows you to take your ship and crew on an adventure through a randomly generated galaxy filled with glory and bitter defeat.

FTL's complex strategic gameplay allows you to give orders to your crew, manage ship power distribution, and choose weapon targets in the heat of battle. You will encounter unique alien lifeforms and technology. You can upgrade your ship and unlock new ones with the help of six diverse alien races. Be the Captain you want: hundreds of text based encounters will force you to make tough decisions. In the randomized galaxy each play-through will feature different enemies, events, and results to your decisions. Each time you play another challenging session of FTL: Faster Than Light, it won't be quite the same.
  • Unlimited adventures in the vast depths of unpredictable space.
  • A new randomized galaxy to explore each time you start a new game.
  • Quick play sessions (from 5 to about 90 minutes) will allow you to add that spaceship commander feeling to any of your days.

One of the Best

This is one of the few games that I've been coming back to play over and over for about 10 years now. I originally bought it on Steam and have played it for hundreds of hours. It IS challenging, even on easy. I still haven't beaten the game on the moderate or hard settings, but that's because I'm mostly a coward... There are 10 different ships each with 3 different layouts and starting system sets that nudge each ship build in a different direction. This makes for varied runs and offers lots of replayability. Combat consists of real time action with a freqeunt pausing to coordinate weapons systems, order crew around the ship to repair ship systems and hull breaches, extinguish fires, fend off boarding parties or even board enemy ships. There is a lot of detailed game design and polish here for such a seemingly simple presentation. The sound design and music are also top notch. This is one of my personal favorite games and will continue to be one I repeatedly come back to. Well worth the price.

Live by the dice, die by the dice.

I know. A truly competent captain can command their way out of any situation. Most captains don't have to deal with their crew turning into a pillar of salt when they arrive to port. FTL is a slow paced plate juggling type of game where one or more of your plates may have lit dynamite placed onto it. • The ever advancing doom field in the form of the fleet. You can never rest, never fully explore, and often have to make a choice between bad & worse. Any time spent in this field pitches a high class cruiser to fight. • Random events that by choice or otherwise, can remove your veteran crew, disable a system, damage the hull, and more. There are no odds listed. • Just straight up be starved of whatever resource you need. Running a drone ship? Good chance they'll never show up in item pools. • The final encounter is playing on just slightly a different ruleset to ruin any strategy you were working with, unless you had specifically been preparing precisely for it. It also has several traps, gotchas, and "thought you were clever" moments. • Many of the ship unlocks require doing suboptimal things or are spiteful in how byzantine they are. In spite of all that, I know exactly why the game is popular, and how people are able to command around those issues. The game oozes atmosphere, has fascinating secrets, and is real-time with infinite pause. I understand what the game appeal is. Just that I'd rather be able to load the dice into my favor.
