FAR: Lone Sails is a vehicle adventure game. In a unique vehicle you travel across a dried-out ocean following the tracks of a once thriving civilization. I don't get it

Based on the string reviews I wanted to play this game. But I don't get it. No tutorial, no guide, no instruction, no background story. Just a steam engine that rolls a little, runs out of energy, and no way to get it going again.
