FAR: Lone Sails is a vehicle adventure game. In a unique vehicle you travel across a dried-out ocean following the tracks of a once thriving civilization. Through an array of roadblocks and through hazardous weather you need to keep your vessel going. Where will this journey take you? Are you the last of your kind?
Master your vessel: Maintain and upgrade your vehicle to overcome numerous obstacles and natural hazards.
Discover a unique world: Explore a desolate dried-out seabed, follow the trails of your people and find relics and buildings, that tell the story of a civilization on the run.
Experience an atmospheric journey: Let the sky full of clouds pass by and heed the wind that drives your sails towards the horizon.
A Zombie-free Post-Apocalypse: It’s just you and your machine vs. the big nothing.
This is one of a game where I could play much more longer, so beautiful - great atmosphere and so relaxing.
But I liked to donate for the game, really good stuff from Switzerland, I hope that we will see more in the future!
I played this game twice over: once alone and once with my 5 years old daughter and I can say that we both enjoyed it very much!
Yes, the game is short and does not have a narrator straightforwardly spoon-feeding you the story - it`s all about exploration and your imagination. Do not speed though the game - look at every scene, every relic of the old world, every sign and poster and you will be able find all the puzzle pieces you will need to understand enough of the game`s story.
Indeed, this game is all about the atmosphere and how it makes you feel - it`s rare that a game will actually get you to fear that you might not make it to the next scene or get your hopes up that this is the moment when you find something important. It`s an emotional roller coaster if you let yourself be dragged into it.
Especially the ending is unexpected and quite different from most games and I guarantee it will not leave you indifferent.
I highly recommend buying and playing this game!
Played it through in one evening. So it was the right length for me to enjoy it in one piece. The story happens in your head while your traveling through this world, solving simple puzzles (with only little chance to fail by destroying your machine). The music is awesome just as the graphic is beautiful. I can recommend this game to all players who don't have to much time anymore to play all day but who want to have an experience which is more or less unique.
This game is one of the few artistic games, that are deemed to be artistic, but also offer some actual gameplay.
There is no speech in it, so you have to find out the story by your self. Sadly the story does not find to an saisfiing end.
When people writing about how short this game is, sometimes they forget that length is not the measure you should use. Especially when we talk about such a creative indie game. This is more an art piece than just a game.
