Fallout: London

Fantastic RPG and writing, feels like an Obsidian made fallout. Love the silent protagonist and the use of SPECIAL in dialogue/decisions, far superior to fallout 4. Factions, stories and one off terminals are entertaining and carry the fallout whimsical comedy while still being tragic. The combat is challenging, calling for more strategic approaches and planning, less run and gun. The world feels more haunting and difficult, which are good elements that play into the strategic feel. I only play fallout 4 on survival, but because of stability am playing this on hard for a first playthrough, would recommend trying not on survival first even if you are a fallout veteran like myself. After adding the FPS fix mod, my load times are between 20-30 seconds, down from 3ish minutes. Everything else came with the base installation and runs pretty well on my not-so-impressive laptop. World is stable, there are some frame rate drops while exploring but suprisingly smooth during combat. The one major Issue I came across was when exploring behind Greenwich Station, theres a tunnel that leads under ground and some neighboring apartments. I guess this area is known to cause crashes as my investigation into the issue says its an exit point for a quest and people have reported the same issue I had. after 3 crashes, a full system restart seemingly fixed it. I have not had any other issues. Lastly, playing with an Xbox Series controller connected with a cheap cable to my computer. I initially had input lag, but after downloading the xbox accessories application and running an update, have had zero latency since. As a Fallout game, 9/10. Stability wise, it has seemingly come a long way based on some of the other reviews, with the issues mentioned above, 7.5/10 Highly recommend to any fallout fan. As someone who has never modded before, don't let that intimidate you as the GOG process was super simple and a quick youtube video made FPS fix possible. Can't recommend enough.

Firstly i've installed this one with GOG version of F4GOTY as it was a drop in install without those downgrader shenanigans with steam version. Started a game after install, and for the life of me i could not get audio to play and let it go for a while. After about a month i've decided to tackle audio issue again and managed to get it working. Game crashes intermittently but has 10 minute autosave so there is not much progress lost in worst case scenario. Read times while changing locations are somehow connected to frame rate as are the physics so a mod was needed to fix this issue and read times improved tremendously. There were some quest bugs and earlier save usually fixed it. so all usual shenanigans we all grown to like with bethesda games throughout the years but does warrant a loss of a star After all that was sorted out Almost got my self fired from my job, left by a girl and ostracised by all my friends, by sheer ability of this game to pull me in and take all my waking time and i gladly went with it. This was the best Fallout experience i had for a decade at least! If you are a fan of a franchise this one is certainly for you. Knock your self out. To the guys and gals from Team FOLON: you gave us a masterpiece. Thank you from the bottom of my soul. War never changes

Fallout London is a great look into "what if-" with a European POV, but oh boy this mod plays like a Bethesda game, and it needed a whole lot more testing. There's a lot of bugs, the game crashes frequently, and it's in need of a lot more work. You keep getting told you can't do this or that, and can't go this or that way, and then it works anyway. Textures and characters frequently goes missing. The route suggestions consistently suggests the long way around. I would normally be a lot gentler on the ratings too, since it's a free mod, but I had to buy the base game on GOG because the downgraders didn't work on steam, so it gets the full judgement.

Whats not to love. Everything is new. Gobbs of archtecture and missions. Can't quite seem to get the London Bridge workshop rolling. But, I am my companion are happy there. A few quirks. Nothing more that Bethesda's creation. Totally worth the price and time. Love it so much I donated full game price to the FOLON team. Keep the team alive!
