Evoland 2 is the spiritual successor to the original Evoland with its graphics style changing as you travel through time, and it’s gameplay evolving as you move along the storyline. It is also a much bigger game and a classic RPG at heart, with a complex scenario based on time travel, dozens of characters with their own backgrounds and ambitions, and vastly different gameplay styles that are linked to the story and the player’s actions.
Full of humor and references to classic games, Evoland 2 will bring a truly epic and extraordinary adventure, unlike anything you’ve ever played before!
A true RPG with a wide and rich world
A tribute to the video games history, with its graphics evolving through the player's progression
Different gameplays (including shoot'em up, beat'em all, platforming, tactical, versus fighting and many more!)
So far the *BUZZ* bugs I have encountered *BUZZ* are sound freezing making a *BUZZ* terrible buzzing noise for a half *BUZZ* second. This happens constantly. Occasionally the screen will freeze as well. Sometimes the screen will freeze, but you can still hear the background noise going like nothing is wrong.
I just got to the turn based combat part and I don't think I am going to be able to finish it. Each time I have tried the game has froze. The first time the picture froze as described above and the second time everything was moving like normal, but the action bars weren't filling up so no one could ever take their turn.
If it wasn't for the bugs I would give the game a 5, but I don't know if I am ever going to be able to get through this game.
First of all, i did not like the first one much either, but at least it was short.
As you already know, this game is amalgam of every cliche and gameplay element from older games, especially old RPG from 16bit era.
Unlike the first game, this actually has its own story, and it (while cliched to the horizon and beyond) is actually good and interesting! The graphics are also very good!
But unfortunatelly there is more.. no, this is not about grinding and unending attrition battles like in Final Fantasy (I never finished FF6, how can someone claim game is so great just for the story, when the actual gameplay is such tragedy??). Here you are beaten to the ground by "different play - styles" - so after some adventuring there is terrible platforming (with everyones favourite disappearing platforms), there is shoot-em-up section (really annoying), some running sequence (???!!! , but annoying as hell), fughting sequence (like mortal kombat -- suprisingly easy, so it was not all that annoying. and then there are some old arcade games. Pong - ok. Snake? Well, ok. Space invaders??? Should be ok, no? Well no. You see, space invaders were a game on square screen with relativelly slow aliens and fast turret. Here you have slow turret and fast aliens on widescreen! So you basically cant stter from one side of the screen to the other before aliens reach the bottom. And that is it, I did not get past this section..
From youtube I learned that another section is PacMan. Yes, freaking Pac Man. That game that you see and tell yourself: it is so great we got so far from this. I hated pacman on my 8bit Atari and I hate it still. It is stupid game. And I play RPG games not to play pacman or invaders or 1942 arcade. I play RPG to play RPGs, for the story anch characters. Not here, tho.
And there are many many MANY MANY BOSS fights.. I hate Boss fights.
Two stars for graphics and a story..
