In this case, good will not triumph.

In this game you take one of the role of one of 3 Evil Geniuses, Maximillian, Shen Yu or Alexis. All 3 have their own designs on the world. It's up to you to help them achieve it. Evil Genius is a base building, world dominating game and the entire thing is basically a spoof of spy thrillers the world over. Your main goal, aside from conquering the world of course, is to collect notoriety. It doesn't matter how you do it. Every Evil Genius needs it, every Evil Genius wants it. The higher your notoriety, the more you can do. But, the 5 world alliances (S.A.B.R.E., H.A.M.M.E.R., S.M.A.S.H., A.N.V.I.L. and P.A.T.R.I.O.T.) will send more agents after you, eventually bringing out the big guns, Super Agents, the finest the Forces of Justice can muster. One thing you need to avoid is gaining Heat. Heat is a measure of how much activity your actions are gathering from the forces of the world. The higher your heat, the better the quality of agents they will send against you. To get rid of heat, just don't do anything, it'll die down eventually. Evil Genius is a unique game. It is not without it's flaws, as every game is. It's got a few glitches and visual bugs, not enough to take away from the overall experience, but not small enough to ignore either. This game gets 4 stars from me, but you don't need to just go on my opinion. Try it yourself, and make up your own mind. EVIL GENIUS Control System - 4/5 Hilarity - 5/5 Glitches - 4/5 Visuals - 4/5 Overall - 17/20

Frustrating

I tried to play this game in normal mode (not easy, not hard) and the first hours it was kind of fun. The idea is terribly weird, but the ambient, graphics and, above all, the main menu music are great and recall James Bond films a lot. But while you are playing to have fun you discover you have to play to survive. Literally. With all the bad feelings it supposes. Your minions are stupid, the process of constructing rooms and creating an army is extremely slow and, worst of all, making money is excessively hard. You must use a stupid world map that shouldn't even exist in which you will lose lots of men quickly while you will get money very slowly. That world map is like an offline, breaking-action subgame that could have been avoided and replaced with stores for tourists or something like that. Sending minions to the world is also a very slow process that makes you lose money, men and fun. Every time you loose a minion, in the world map or in your base, your chances to survive decrease dramatically. Your objectives are clear (well, not always), but you can't reach them because you have no money. And you cannot get money because you are discovered stealing in the stupid world map without even being alerted, loosing all your men. And you can't get more men because you don't reach your objectives. And also, your base is constantly attacked by immortal agents who will kill half your army in two minutes and your rooms cannot be constructed because you need the money to recreate your minions, who are so stupid that cannot kill ninja-style enemies until you have told them they are enemies. The traps you set up attack more of your minions than enemies. If you want to change a room because it's not big enough, you will loose a lot of time, money and workers. You can put all the doors or traps you want, but your enemies will make a trapdoor and will access your base anywhere, killing your minions, breaking your objects and stealing your treasures. Too frustrating game. And it's a shame, because the aesthetics are right and even the original idea is funny when you get used to it.

One of the best games ever.

They realy don't make them like this anymore. I bought this game when it was originally released and I couldn't put it down. Its fun, hilarious, and addicting. It's especially a must buy if you love James Bond movies. Building an evil lair and managing it is a blast. The soundtrack is absolutely phenomenal, so it's worth buying on gog because the ST is included. This is a pure nostalgia trip for me, back when games like this were common but only a few stood out. Blending building, management, world domination, and comedy in the best way. Do yourself a favor and buy this gem right now.

a 5 star game thats probably really a 4

This game isnt perfect by any stretch of the imagination but because it puts you in the master mind role as so few games do. Maybe not since Dungeon Master has it been done well enough to make the game. Like I said the game isnt perfect but because of what it is this is the 2nd time I've paid for it and I've played it over the course of many years. Kinda makes it a 5 in my book. Enjoi!
