Epic Pinball: The Complete Collection

This is my favorite video pinball. You get a huge selection of themed tables, each one with a different setup. Each with it's unique sound effects and MOD tracker music track.

I spent a lot of time playing the Andriod table and Enigma back in the day. Thanks for making this easy to get a hold of. However, I had problems playing this game as is. DosBox would just not let it play smoothly. I mean, it kind of worked but with graphic glitches and skips. This is not how it worked on the old hardware. So here's a tip: play this using DosBox-Pure. Have a good day.

While this is a childhood memory blast from the past, there is a technical letdown. The title calls this the Complete Collection, with the description even stating that later versions of this contained an updated version of the Android table called Super Android, which is not included in this title... This is not the Complete Collection. Got this on 80% off, so inexpensive, but dissapointed it is not the true Complete Collection.

When I bought this on sale, I was hoping to get some fun pinball games to play. When I got into the game, it turns out I was in for a bit of a disappointment. I'll list the issues I came across. 1: Graphics. The game looks like a mess. The tables, while they look neat in static images, they are a real eyesore when you are actually attempting to play the game. The ball just blends into the scrolling backgrounds completely and is hard to track. Also because of the small view area the ramps are often outside the screen when the ball is in the reach of your flippers so you can't really tell where to aim most of the time. 2: Table Design. The game feels very unfinished, and the ramps seem to be just haphazardly plopped onto the table, with very little concern for actual gameplay. Another problem I felt with this collection was that some of the tables seem to have been designed in a way that as soon as you launch the ball it plops down the center or side lanes before you even get to touch it, or it ends up getting ping-ponged between bumpers until it ends up going off the side lane. 3: Physics. The ball behaves in a strange way and it almost feels like they follow a handful pre-calculated trajectories some of the time. Sometimes the balls feel "floaty" and more than once they phased through the flippers, costing a ball. 4: Audio. The music is pretty nice if you leave the table alone and listen to it, but as soon as you start to play and sound effects like shooting ball into a ramp begin to play, some of the background music channels mute, or the music restarts from beginning of the pattern that was playing before the sound effect. It can be a bit jarring at times. But other than that, it is pinball. Pretty mediocre but playable. It can not hold a candle to other classic pinball simulators such as Pinball Dreams, Pinball Fantasies or Extreme Pinball but it is decent.
