Enclave

One of the best Action-Adventures. Runs perfect on Win 10 with Xbox controller (Xpadder). Graphics are still great today. I play it with patch in widescreen and 4k. Looks beautiful. At its time it had the best graphics and was ahead of all games. I don't have the original PC version. This has nothing to do with the Xbox version. The xbox game is completely different. Enclave had ratings above 80% everywhere. Simply a great game and one of my favorite games.

A very enjoyable Hack'n'Slash, marred by mechanical problems. The characters are horribly imbalanced, owing largely to very persnickety hit detection, rendering the physical classes problematic, and the fact that once you have the Dark Staff, there are very few cases where using the casters isn't the far better choice. This leads to some massive difficulty spikes at points where the levels were almost certainly designed for the "tank" classes (a certain level where magic punches right through shields/armor, leading one to the conclusion that you need the extra health to get through) except that they can't seem to hit anything. Still, as I said, it's an enjoyable game, if a bit of a throwback to the old "Nintendo Hard" days of having to play a level multiple times until you get the gist of it, actually adding to my enjoyment.

I'm sure others would disagree with me, but I think Enclave is the best game of it's kind. If Die By the Sword looked this good, it would only be slightly better than Enclave. I own it on cd, but wanted it without DRM so I bought it again off GOG. I figured out how to disable the hud. When I play in first person, the immersion is great. For how old it is, this game still looks nice and runs well on older hardware. It supports widescreen resolutions natively, which is nice since I play on an hdtv. Overall, great game, great music, and just fun. It would be nice if GOG let you download the soundtrack though.

See the title and https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wine_(software) if you don't know what I mean by that. Just so you fellow Linux users know. It's not a native Linux port, but It's preconfigured and it runs fine at 1920x1200 on my Kubuntu 14.04.

I finished Enclave on the Xbox many years ago, an impressive feat that felt like climbing a mountain. The game difficulty is not for the faint of heart: even at medium the game is very, very demanding. But the variety of scenarios, characters, weapons, the chance to replay any of the beaten levels, the evil campaign are really rewarding. Kudos to the graphics, top notch even today.
