1. Every inch of this game oozes personality, and it does it effortlessly. The narrative unfolds with surprising unflinching An isometric RPG in 2019 is a bold move, given the genre entered its twilight years the moment 3D models really kicked off, but this is something anyone can and will appreciate in its slow-burn glory.

Disappointed
Encased is of the line of sci-fi rpgs like Fallout 1 and 2. And there is much to like about the game. You have a large degree of versatility in character creation. The story is not mind-blowing but also not dull. The companions I encountered were solid. And combat was satisfying if not top-notch tactical. Dialogue however... Profanity has become more and more present in RPGs and I am not here to debate the merits or demerits thereof. Stupid use of profanity on the other hand... The F-bomb should never be used as often as it was in this. In the introductory area, a professional building no less, the f-bombs were easy to find and totally unnecessary. So I docked a star for overuse of harsh profanity. I docked a half star for the inconsistency of the survival system. I traveled over a day's distance through harsh terrain on foot and without camping and was docked only for slight fatigue. Using only a few skills(first aid, lockpick, force, mine clearing) can cause that fatigue to shoot up like wildfire. The last half star I deducted for the camera. Especially when the character walks below objects like arches, roofs, etc... it can be quite hard to make out objects. Now they may still recover one star by making tweaks to the camera and survival system. But for future reference a language filter would have saved them the other. Fallout 1, 2 and Tactics all had one and it made the game more inclusive to all players. Which in turn makes more money. Just a thought.

In Response to the Whining
I don't own the game (yet), so I have no reason to "white knight" the game or the studio. But lets look at these two DLCs through a sane lens. One is a character portrait pack for 5 USD. The other is gives you a pair of boots and a gun. Neither of these are in any way necessary for you to progress. It's definitely shady for them to charge money for extra portraits, but do you *need* them to play the game? No. I'd be more likely to have nothing good to say about the devs if they charged 10-20 USD for the packs, or if they pulled a Dragon Age 1 by sticking in DLC ads for quests but they haven't. They are giving us bonuses items to help support the game. If it were up to me, I wouldn't have used portraits for a DLC because that's kinda scammy.
