A classic isometric RPG set in a dystopian enviroment allowing you to fight enemies, explore the hostile wasteland, level up your character and join one of the forces in the ruined world that survived through the horrific Incident, isolated from the rest of the world.
Start the game in one of the five divisions of the CRONUS Corporation — Wings, each with its own features, mechanics, and game options.
Go on a one way trip under the Dome from which you cannot return. Avoid radiation and anomalies, fight mutated animals and search for unique artifacts.
Start the game as an ordinary company employee and become the driving force behind the story that takes place before, during, and after the disaster that became known as the Incident.
After getting familiar with the world, dive into an open world full of freedom and danger. The old order is gone, now five powerful factions rule over the wasteland. Join one of them or be a lone wolf. Change the future of the Dome and its inhabitants or go your own way.
Threaten your enemies out of battle: persuade important people to give you favors. Don't have charisma for that? Then bribe them! Encased story is deep, each quest can be completed differently, depending on your stats and choices and those choices will really matter in the end, thanks to multiple game endings. Kill everyone, be a pacifist or choose anything in-between, the game will adapt to your playstyle.
Level up your own unique character: will you specialise in stealth, melee combat, sniper rifles, psionics or diplomacy? Will you be a lone wolf or a party leader? Or maybe even try to play through the game as low intellect hero? It's all up to you.
Go on a journey and learn dozens of useful abilities like hacking, mechanics, thieving or even driving. Study relics to reveal technological secrets of the Dome and then explore the lands, finding new places, anomalies and rivals. Not all of them will be humans, by the way.
Make difficult decisions: steal, assasinate or help despite any concequences. Build your reputations with one faction or try to please them all, but remember that sometimes compromises are impossible.
Repair and craft: forge robotic armor — Servoshell, build unique guns and upgrade them. Maybe even cook something. After all, you can't survive on an empty stomach.

think the story was good, but the game feels like an EA bug and things that feel like it was on the way in the game but removed. pilot skill but you can only drive the car short distance not on the map.
so you buy it in the belief that it is a finished product and notice that it is not finished.
It's wickedly funny and achingly sad in equal measure, a combination that probably won't lend itself to your average dragon-killing story or similar to come down the line. It's a game that wears politics — not necessarily your politics or someone else's, but politics in general — on its sleeve and is extremely sympathetic to people while viciously criticizing any given sector of belief.
Encased is an absolute great example of crpg storytelling and gameplay. The original inspriration for the Fallout series, it's easy to see. My only hope is that we will see it grow into a new series, as this is a game deserving of more than a few sequels.
Deeply sorry I backed this on Kickstarter, complete waste of money. The game as you can see was never finished. They claim it was, but it never came out of early access on GOG or Steam, so you're buying an incomplete game. Further, they made DLC without finishing the game. But to the game itself. It is sadly not playable. There is a lot of promise here, but it's so broken you literally can not get more than a couple hours into it before it's impossible even on easy. Combat is pretty much always fatal. Early run in with thugs? Dead. So you have to avoid the whole encounter. Try to get through the next phase to get to the first base? 3 rats kill you trying to find some way around the fact you aren't the right class to disable the generator that powers the instakill turrets. The difficulty is horribly out of balance, the interface is clunky, the tutorial is broken, and mechanics are even worse. Which is to say, if I started over it might be possible to get further in the game, but there is an early point you simply can not pass from what I can see unless you are a certain class that has a certain skill. That means the other classes are not playable, so the game is just broken from the start. Since it has seemingly been abandoned, it does not seem these fundamental crippling issues will be fixed. On a final note, it seems horribly inefficient given the install footprint to the actual game content. There are much better games of this genre in every way that are a quarter of the install size.
I loved this game in the first few hours I spent only in dialogue choices and character customization. As soon as I got into combat I wanted to quit, there is no cover system, movement in combat is pointless due to high movement costs, and again without a cover system where would you even run to? I haven't finished the game yet and my opinion may change, but for the time being I've quit and am hoping for updates to make the combat system at least a little more varied or smarter.
