Emperor: Rise of the Middle Kingdom

I never get bored of this game. It is vibrant, fun and for people who like to organise their cities meticulously, it's perfect. Very customisable with the map and campaign editor. I love playing the massive maps and starting fights with neighboring provinces to spice things up. Very satisfying game. Only problem is you turn around and realise you've been playing for hours. A bit addictive HA!

Played long time ago, and finally bought it DRM free in a sale, it still has it's charming factor, addictive and well made. Don't let the game's 2D graphics disheartened you to buy it, it's actually one that made the game truly timeless and aged very well (the graphics is very beautiful "artistically", not technically). I believe, this game is among the best GOG has to offer and for a city builder lover, this game is a MUST! You won't regret it. There is a widescreen patch as well (since the game didn't support high resolution nor widescreen), just check on the forums and you will find it. It's easy to use and I think is a must if you want to enjoy the game with proper resolution as the game looks great with it.

This game is a little known masterpiece. It is the ultimate evolution of the Sierra style city-builder in terms of gameplay and mechanics... and the UI is great too. It has held up quite well over the years... modern attempts to recreate it's style and depth have, in my opinion, fallen woefully short. Give this game a few hours of your time... you can thank me later.

I've played for the first time, Emperor: Rise of the middle kingdom in 2004 and i loved it. Enjoyed the campaign, the graphics, music and story. I was looking for the game 2 days ago and i just found this place, i knew i had to buy it. DRM free. That's cool for me. Highly recommended for those who love these kind of games and the chinese culture.
