Old school strategy

Good old game indeed. Old school graphics but a new gameplay, with some interesting ideas (and some others not so good). Although it's far from the best around (HoMM / Master of Orion series), it still has a unique spirit and the campaign is nice. The gameplay is revolving around heroes exploring provinces and keeping the people happy in order to keep the resources from them. You build improvements, kind of like in a civilization game and your territory has more impact than in a homm game where you just get the mines and don't care about it afterwards. Also, for this price, it really is a bargain. Can't really be expecting the same level of finish from a game at that price than from one at 50$ and still it has a lot of content and high replayability. Go for it if you like homm/age of wonders type of games, you won't be disappointed.

Fun but too easy

Once you get the hang of the game and know what to use and not to use, the game is way too easy. The idea is good though... too close to Heroes of Might and Magic III to my taste... so I'll play Heroes of MM III instead, it's much much better, even better than the crap Ubisoft came out with.

Caution!

This game is in fact a good game in theory. Its got alot of good ideas going for it and its fun to play. That is until you fight an enemy hero. The AI in this game is absolutly relentless. You are given zero time to learn the game. You can have a level 9 commander and you will have your entire army destroyed by his level 5 warrior. Basicly there is only one path to take in the begining and that is: roll a warrior or die. I want to play this game but the game does not want to be played. Its just way to difficult on the easiest of settings you will die often. Sure you can rez grind and maybe defeat a hero, but it is so difficult it isnt even remotely fun. Sorry

Great game play

I love the game play. It is unique, yet familiar. I do have one gripe. The rate at which new buildings get unlocked is too slow. I feel like I'm grinding for experience because of the slow rate of progression - but for no reason since your heroes do not carry over from shard to shard.

A quick pointer...

There are issues running this playably on a Win7-64. On my OC'd rig, my power setting options (part of the best fix) are reduced, so the fixes available atm won't work for me. Shame, having played Eador on a Vista Laptop, it's really good. HoMaM players would likely love it. Maybe it's something on my MoBo i've switched or just my MoBo itself, but plz bear this in mind.
