Eador is a universe made of countless shards of land drifting in the Great Nothing. Each of the shards is a little world unto itself, with geography and citizens of its own. The power over the shards is bitterly contested by Masters, the immortal beings mortals believe to be gods.
Take the role of a mighty Master and shape the destiny of Eador, on land and within the astral plane itself. Explore the land and rule provinces as you see fit, defend them, and keep the populace in line or they may rebel. Choose from thousands of items--swords, spells, weapons, armor, and more--to outfit the heroes you recruit so they may best meet any challenge. Keep your heroes healthy and they will grow stronger as they gain experience from battle. Forge alliances and engage in the delicate art of diplomacy as you negotiate trade agreements or wage war against a mutual foe. 2sapphireneclace - it has hotseat for up to 16 players, actually. the description card has an error there.
options for lan and internet play are there too, but i never used them, so can't say how it works.
This game came seemingly out of nowhere, and is violently raping my free time. I mean, it's so goshdern fun that I almost want to knock Age of Wonders down a peg on my favorite TBS list. Well, I still can't bring myself to do that. But just note that it is good enough to almost bring me to do what i thought impossible.
I know that this is not a review. I know. Please don't hold it against me for wanting to abuse this platform to proselytize for a moment. The top 3 reviews pretty much say all that can be said. I'm, in effect, only signing my name on the parchment.
To anyone actually reading through the reviews for this game and thinking about buying; don't be a afraid.
And to the Man who brought this labor of love from his imagination into the matrix; "I likes Ya. And I Wants Ya."
I've spent countless hours in this game and tried a lot of different approaches but in the end the game was just too hard and frustrating, on the easiest setting.....
I'd love to see an improved version of this game because the basics are brilliant.
There is a good tutorial. There is a sense of bonding with your hero. There are cool promotions for units and skill synergies.
There isn't a proper save system. It auto saves. That is all. You can't go back and undo something. Ever.
Long games with stakes, that can require hours of careful decisions, imo, need a save function. Maybe losing your army because you don't know how strong a never before seen unit is, doesn't actually matter. Ruined the game for me.
