DUSK reintroduces you to a world where butchery and bloodshed must be mastered... if you're to survive 'til dawn. Inspired by Doom, Quake, Blood, Heretic, Hexen, Half-Life, Redneck Rampage and all your '90s favorites, while featuring a soundtrack by metal music mastermind Andrew Hulshult.
In three distinct campaign episodes hand-crafted from straight outta the '90s, players will battle through an onslaught of mystical backwater cultists, possessed militants and even darker forces and attempt to discover just what lurks beneath the Earth. Featuring a vast arsenal of badass weaponry including sickles, swords, crossbows, rifles, dual-wielded and double barreled shotguns and incredibly necessary grenade and rocket launchers, DUSK brings unapologetic retro action from start to finish.
In addition to the main campaign, DUSK features an Endless Survival Mode, putting you front and center against wave after wave of merciless enemies.
And for those looking for an extra challenge, DUSK also offers the chance to go head to head online to battle your friends in DUSKWorld arena multiplayer, where darkness hosts the worst of humanity in surprising new ways...
DUSK features cross-play multiplayer and the exclusive THE GOGATIORUM map for endless mode.
Wow what can I say but this game brings me back to the days of Doom , Quake , and Blood goodness. Run and Gun and try to stay alive. It also has the secrets and it's Sound Track is very good. If you liked any of the games I listed above you are sure to like this. I also give it two thumbs up for it's own creepiness.
Dusk is a throwback to classic FPS titles of the 90s, namely a mixture of Doom, Blood and Quake, but it is also more than that, a worthy title in its own right, with incredible atmosphere, fast and fun gunplay and, above all, incredible level design. Worth playing even if you never played the games that inspired it.
A surrealistic, atmospheric, dark, terrifying retro-FPS that pays homage to Quake (including its Quake graphics), Blood and Redneck Rampage. It also has Doom and Half-Life elements. Level design at its very best and a chilling, metal soundtrack sets the mood. There's one music track for each level, so they were not stingy with music: dozens of tracks! Also, each new level has a different concept and mood, some surprises and can be very challenging in harder difficulty levels. This is definitely game of the year-worth material. Get it!
This game is great! A beautiful little love letter to the first person shooters of olde. Feels like Blood (with a big ol‘dose of Texas Chainsaw Massacre/Thief/Matrix/... thrown in), plays like Quake - and it proudly wears its inspirations on its sleeve, yet it manages to be entirely its own thing. It's derivative without *feeling* derivative. The love that the dev has for these games oozes from every pixel. Speaking of pixels: The graphics in this game are way better than the promo screenshots make them out to be. Screenshots can't really do the levels justice. Some of the level design looks downright inspired, beautiful even, with lots of nice attention to detail (for example, there is one bit where you ascend a flight of stairs to a snow-covered hilltop and the stairs become more covered in snow the further you go up). It's dripping with atmosphere and even manages to be genuinely creepy at times.
In short: This game doesn't just try to recreate oldskool shooters, it recreates the very best parts of them. It gives you that same sense of awe and those "Wow, that was cool!"- moments. It has that wonderful, unique mixture of creepiness and silliness that these old games had, where rather than being at odds, these two elements complemented each other.
My initial playthrough took me 10 hours, with another 2-4 hours of finding the secret levels and hunting for achievements. Multiplayer supports Steam/Galaxy-crossplay, however you will find most matches to be sparsely populated at best. Mod support is planned for the future, hopefully Steam Workshop integration won‘t preclude gog buyers from participating in the modding community. Until then, one thing is for sure: This is a damn good game.
I've been recommended from friends of discord last year, but for real i've wanted to play this game, i totally recommend this game, because kinda feels a combination with Quake meets Blood, but more terror, the quality for real feels like Quake using the weapons but different (this time no nail gun), also i get the idea of other items like the diamonds or coins as armor.
I've wanted more episodes, but with 3 episodes it's enough to pass the best of the game, see the secrets and also the "mini" bosses that surprised me a lot.
If we could back to 90's, this game could be accepted with Doom, Quake, Duke Nukem 3D and Shadow Warrior being one FPS more classic.
