DUSK

Considering DUSK is not running on the same engine as the game it took inspiration from for the mechanics, it handles really well after you disable the wacky weapon swaying. I don't ever give a fuck about graphics as long as the gameplay is good because they are usually inconsequential, but the low poly models and textures add nightmare fuel to this game's atmosphere when no music is playing as you explore. Even the little rats scare the shit out of me. If you skip exploring, you'll find that the pacing is pretty good. DUSKWorld is fucking awesome by the way! If you're looking for LAN games on GOG, pick this beauty up.

One of the best modern retro-like shooters of the last ten years! Awesome scenario and well done graphics, as well as groovy soundtrack! I felt like I was back in nineties, first time seeing such a masterpieces like Duke Nukem 3D, Blood and others. It worth every penny spent and even more! Thank you so much!

Unlike many indie shooters with 1990s influences, Dusk manages to get it right. With it's sci-fi horror and isolated vibe, Dusk's visuals have a very Half-Life sort of aesthetic. In terms of movement, weapon handling, and varying enemy attacks, Dusk harkens back to Quake in the very best ways. Dusk is drenched in mood setting music and atmosphere like both Quake and Half-Life. However, thanks to its own lore, Dusk has an identity very much its own and would've fit in alongside both Quake and Half-Life circa 1998. Dusk World multiplayer and Endless modes add to the replay value, though Dusk World doesn't get much traffic...yet. The Campaign Mode in Dusk has enough secrets, unlockables, and just plain fun to keep it entertaining well past initial completion. First played on Steam in Linux Mint 17.3 with Nvidia NVS 3100M (256MB) laptop graphics. Ran fine at 800X600 on medium settings. Runs even better with a Nvidia GT 730 (900MHz) low-profile desktop graphics.

I pirated the first episode. Had a great time. Came back and paid the man. Game is released on GOG, I paid the man...a second time.

This game is filled to the brim with good design choices that make it a very enjoyable experience. When I started the game I honestly was not impressed. The speed at which the character moves in this game is something else, combine that with the small space the game starts you off with, coupled with the cheap physics and appearance of the game and you will see why. Once turning off auto-run however, the masterful design started showing itself around every corner. The little things like being able to dodge any enemy attack, so you're never really helpless. The lack of ammo in places mean you have to use more than just one weapon. There's well placed interactivity with the environent and the map design is a work of art, the maps themselves never feel copy-pasted or too plain, there's always something new to see. The enemies are easily distinguishable between eachother by graphics and sound. The sound design in general is fantastic, coupled with the soundtrack it conjures up an atmosphere despite the lack of any given true storyline, etc. Basically the game manages to be varied and exciting all throughout, despite it being just a throwback to "simpler" times of FPS games.
