At last, the Dungeon Lord has successfully united the forces of evil and established his dark empire. Time for the next step in his most diabolical quest: expansion!
Through enticing the dark elf priestess Thalya from the fluffy clutches of the surface world to become his chief lieutenant, the Dungeon Lord has found a way to direct his campaign of conquest from the confines of his underground lair. With Thalya on the front line, and the united forces of evil to support her, players will have to use every trick in the book to best those do-gooders of the overworld, once and for all!
Unleash your dark side by creating a unique underground dungeon from a huge array of rooms, traps and structures. Raise the most terrifying army the world has ever seen, by choosing from despicable creatures such as orcs, succubae, zombies and much, much more. Then, once you have built your forces, emerge from the darkness and guide your army to the light of the overworld, where you will corrupt the land and dispatch anything even vaguely heroic, cute or unicorn-shaped. And in a first for the Dungeons series, experience randomly generated levels, so that no two sessions are alike – never-ending fun for any evil conqueror!
The dungeon manager you’ve been waiting for: Dungeons 3 is the biggest, best, and evil-est dungeon sim yet, topped off with a fully reworked overworld RTS mode.
Under new management: Command the united forces of evil under the guidance of new character Thalya and lead them to victory.
Size does matter: Extensive single player campaign with 20 missions and more than 20 hours of playtime, randomly generated levels, a brand new co-op mode for two players, more rooms, and more unique abilities.
Speak no evil: The fan-favourite Dungeons narrator is back with his unmistakable voice, continuing the Dungeons legacy in the best way possible.

Playing this is a blast, I love creating my very own dungeon and pay monsters to fend off intruders and it gets even better when you play with friends, CO-OP is absolutely amazing, two players managing one dungeon (sometimes it's a bit overwhelming so I needed a hand) is a very entertaining and non-stressful way to play this game, it also reminds me of Warcraft III a little.
I-huh-enjoy the looks of Thalya too, so, good, very good game.
*cough* Time to buy the dlc now.
If you like Dungeon Keeper and WarCraft III then this game is for you.
It's really the perfect blend of both games.
You get to build your dungeon then actually wander into the Overworld to fight your oppenents in a very similar fashion to WC.
I was pleasantly surprised by how fun and engaging this game is. You can really design your dungeon how you want. I can easily get lost in this game for hours.
Great buy, and lots of inexpensive DLC content.
Get it - you won't regret it.
Dungeons III is my first gameplay experience in this franchise so I can't make comparisons to earlier titles. I found my overall experience to be enjoyable even though this game wouldnt normally be my "niche" and within my first 3 or 4 hours of game time I definately felt like this game was worth at least 4 stars. However as I got further along the campaign and took some time to explore the Co-op and skirmish features I quickly discovered I had reached the limit of what the game had to offer and my experience from here on in would be more of the same.
The Co-op feature in particular was really dissapointing. I was expecting each player to control their own dungeons and units in a combined effort to conquer an AI that was heavily bolstered to tackle multiple players. Instead you have multiple players controlling a single dungeon with their own "Hands of terror" having to work together in unison to manage units and resources. Honestly it was an annoying experience and I found my self competing with my ally for things to do rather than work together, especially when we had different play styles.
Likewise skirmish matches against the AI were also dissapointing. Its simply you verses a single AI player trying to destroy each other. The AI is not clever or even that well designed it simply just launches timed waves at you with incrementaly increasing difficulty exactly the same as every mission in the campaign. This gameplay would benefit greatly from often (over)used systems of having multiple AI players to verse, interesting map types, different game types or team battles.
On the positive side of things, the controls are simple and easy to learn (you could say they are a little too simple at times). The unit and room design is fun and is integrated together well. I even enjoyed the cartoon style graphics and cheesily humourous narrator. The campaign is somewhat interesting, at least until you realise every mission is exactly the same just slightly altered.
The main game is awesome. One of the best in the genre.
The DLC leaves a good bit to be desired with a lot of levels being the escort mission or stop something from getting away, needing you to rush to get your minions out in a panic. And the balancing is all over the place with the DLC as well, with some of the Hero's that go down into your dungeon being so high a level that they nearly insta-kill your minions.
Get the main game and enjoy the hell out of it. Save the DLC for after you've got al least a few hundred hours under your belt and are comfortable with rushes and the like.
I personally love this game, in essence its dungeon keeper with something like Warcraft 3 army usage.
Its funny and lighthearted, the mechanics are easy to learn story tries to be more funny than serious and I enjoy that a lot.
But it does have some downsides:
- there are lots of options but there does not seem to be much tactics other that make giant death ball, build everything in your dungeon and complete objectives.
- every mission can get quite long for me its about 1 hour per mission, there are moments when you have to wait on a certain resource to fill up to do the next thing in the dungeon and it might make you feel like you are just waiting.
Honestly those are most of the negatives that I feel are important.
I would like to mention that even if a mission takes a long time i don't feel bored the map and narrator keep me entertained. Also if you feel the difficulty is to low the is a "Hard" mode but I never tried it so can't say anything about that.
All I enjoy this game it makes me smile and few games do that these days.
