Works in the end
I spent a lot of money one summer when I was about 15-16 playing Double Dragon at the local arcade. Buying this from GOG brought back some memories. I've just spent 2+ hours on a train playing it with a 8bitdo game pad!!! to install on win10 32bit needs a little trickery As you have to download and install Visual C++ 2013 from https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/details.aspx?id=40784 Windows 10 64bit installed and runs with no problems.

Father of the genre
I remember spending hours and most of my pocket money when arcade machines came to the town. Double Dragon was definitely one of the best games for two players. And you don't need a Galaxy Client to play LOCAL multiplayer, not even for single player. So I am completely OK with it... Just missing the intro in DD3.
