  • Experiment with different skill combinations to ruin the day for enemies and townspeople alike.
  • Play with a friend in co-op multiplayer. Make decisions together (or disagree entirely), as your interactions and relationship with your partner influence the game.
  • Unravel a deep and epic story, set in the early days of the Divinity universe. No prior experience with other Divinity games is necessary, however. The game takes place well before its predecessors, Divine Divinity and Divinity II: The Dragon Knight Saga, but will still feel familiar to fans.
  • Classless character creation lets you design the character of your choice. Endless item interaction and combinations take exploration and experimentation to another level of freedom.

Like boring fights, buy this.

Many of the reviews mention the good things this game has to offer. And the dev's got a lot right in DOS..EE. But, none of these positives make up for the long winded, boring, mundane fights. At level 17, I've had enough of them and the "action points" and will move on to a different game. For decades I've been a fan of turned based battles, and all the positive reviews convinced me to spend my money on this game. Companions, story, gear, etc cannot and do not, make up for these long, drawn out encounters. I guess I could go shampoo the carpet while I'm waiting for it to be my turn again. Maybe the developers thought it would be entertaining to have the player, sit there watching the screen while the enemy slowly, very slowly, plays out their parts. NOT SO.... boring. And, while waiting for your turn is a feature of turn based fighting, I can't remember spending so much time just sitting there doing NOTHING, since these fights move at a "snails pace" and there's nothing for you to do but wait, wait, wait. Then you get to do it over, again and again. Have a book at the ready so you have something you can do during the long, drawn out fights. This review would be different if the battles didn't drag on the way they do. If they had some "snap" to them. During most of the encounters, I issue my order then sit, twiddling my thumbs while the boring battle, drags on and on and on..... During some of the "spider" battles, I actually left the game and went to get a cup of tea. It was still going on when I got back. Boring does not equate to enjoyment. I'm convinced now more than ever, that some of the "glowing" reviews are written by developers and stockholders.

Years after release, they added DRM...

As the title says, years later, they added a custom launcher that gates from launching the game and requires an external account to launch with no obvious way to skip this step. The launcher is pointless, especially when the game is on a DRM free platform. Thankfully GoG Galaxy 2.0 allows you to roll back a patch, so for now, I will remain on the last actually DRM Free patch. This was done for all three of their largest games, DoS I, DoS II and BG3. I am extremely dissatisfied with this change as it offers nothing to and breaks a promise made to the customer, as much as I love their games and appreciate them as a studio, I cannot support Larian on this.

Made with passion but too silly

+ Game made with passion and love for details + tough fights and no questmarkers or to many hints + gameplay with surprises and elemental damage puzzles - almost every character is silly, childish and over the top... - ...because of this you can´t take the world seriously and a lot feels unnatural - uncomfortable item management with tons of unnecessary items If you are looking for a serious game like this with more depth in roleplaying aspects, decisions, vivid characters and a real appropriate world, you need to play Pillars Of Eternity.

Annoying action-rpg

Divinity Original Sin has a really great story. The writing is very good, feels very rich, there is a lot of quality content there. Until you realize you have to plow through Diablo-esque booooring, annoying, sometimes mind-numbing action-rpg bullshit to get to it. Most of the loot is random, which means you get 90% rubbish, and sometimes one good item. The level of the items is a virtually useless statistic, more often than not low level items have much more use than the high level ones you find later. There are really great mechanics in the game, like the talent-system, or the traits. And there are annoying bullshit, like the inconsistent lava-, or poison/acid-traps, which sometimes have instant-kill effect, sometimes they don't, or the shitloads of worthless loot to plow through to find the 101st item, that might be actually useful for you. Larian tried to mix two completely different genres: the classic crpg, and the mouse-button-mashing Diablo-esque boring action-rpg. What happened is a strange mixture with billowy pace, and useless busywork thanks to piles of useless rubbish of loot. The crafting seems surprisingly uninteresting, once you know enough about it, you feel it to be flat. The Journal is absolutely worthless. I love rpgs, I grew up with rpgs like Planescape: Torment, or Fallout 2. If you looking for an rpg that you want to play multiple times, this might not be the one for you. It is definitely not the one for me. It's more like Diablo - with admittedly a better story - than it is a classic crpg. It might be worth to watch a let's play of this game, but in my opinion it doesn't worth buying it. I own and played both the Classic and the Enhanced version of the game, although I only finished the Classic version.

Feels like Disney made an RPG

I've only played this game for a few hours, but I can tell you already that I can't stand it. I'm a big isometric RPG fan. I love games like Baldur's Gate, Pillars of Eternity, Torment, etc. So I thought I would enjoy this one. Unfortunately it is so cliche and so childish I feel like I'm playing a game intended for little children. Everything is stereotypical fantasy setting. The characters, the classes, the locations, the dialogue, and the quests I've played thus far. Even the art design is over the top with fighters being huge muscular grunts and wizards looking like they've just walked out of Disney's fantasia. I've mentioned the dialogue is awful and there a few reasons why. Firstly, it's very cliche fantasy dialogue with old English accents done terribly. Secondly, you are sometimes presented with dialogue options which lead nowhere. For example, I'm trying to solve a murder case and I ask the city captain about a suspect, "about Esmarelda" I might say, in which he responds "what is it" and my only available response is "I had other questions" which takes me back to the main dialogue screen. What's the point in this? It is so annoying! If the dialogue is not going to result in new information then remove it or grey it out! Lastly, you can ask a character about something emotional, and they'll respond in a tearful manner, with tearful voice acting, but then you can ask them about something else, and the whole tone changes and they're jovial all of a sudden. It's an atmosphere killer and I can't stand it when it happens. I'm not going to detail regarding the frustrating camera movements, the clunky UI and the tedious puzzles. The only good aspect of this game is the fighting which you can read plenty about in other reviews. It is for the fighting that I'll give it 1 star. But if you want a good story, well written characters, and to be immersed into a believable world, then avoid this one.
