I like it!
I like it! Very much! Genre bending and inovative. Some flaws that I gladly overlook because of game being daring and innovative!

Epic game
Dragon Commander is an epic strategy game with rpg elements similar to Starcraft 2. Rpg elements are represented in the persons on the commanding ship of the Empireal fleet where you are obviously the Emperor. You have a Wizard who is trying to get you on the throne. There is politics there and every decision you take moves you away from one of a several races represented in the game. There are imps, elves who wan't to for example allow gay marriage in the game - really hillarious game. You have undead race, dwars and some kind of half dragons. You can marry a princes from a certain races which bring you closer to that race and a bit further away from others. But be careful which princes you choose :) Diplomacy is part of politics. You have generals who can fight for you on the tactical map if you wan't to or you can fight by yourself. Building and units are built on the strategic map. When you get to tactical map you have building there that were built on the strategic map in which you can build units. The game certainly is one of a kind. Some might say that it is similar to the Total war games - I say its better.

Non-Finished, Low on Content, Gets Old
NOTE: the high-resolution support is a lie. Anything higher than 800x600 in "Fake fullscreen" produces those crashing Visual C++ assert errors. Line 152 in list.h, if you are interested. NOT RECOMMENDED / CHECK YOUR REFUND OPTIONS IN ADVANCE. Grave technical errors, high pricing and low content (mostly the dragon gameplay) with annoying, contextually out-of-place sexual and identity politics (of the two female characters, one is a hardcore feminist and the other is flaming lesbian most conserned about gay rights). The gameplay is forgettable. The RTS battles are either quick rushes or stalling until you can get your dragon out and crush the enemy. After you have blasted your first enemy with a fireball, you have seen the game. The RTS part is something that have been done much better in other games and it is uninspredly soulless in this one. The problem is that you cannot give accurate and specific commands while you are the dragon and the unit AI is very suicidal. You have a vastly inferior version of the Total War style world map with troops as casino chips. The whole campaign lasts only three maps, followed by a non-ending that only arouses regret of wasting time on such an anti-climactic game. The off-battle segments are pointless and mostly involve managing race relation percentages. Percentages do not really matter that much. The generals sometimes let you make a fake dialog choice (the wrong choice is an easy-to-spot "FU I got mine" one) where picking the intended one out of the two eventually gives the general extra combat abilities. You are supposed to let the lesbian chick get her gay rights, the feminist to get her way as if your emperor status was a joke and the males a chance to learn to apologize for their manliness. The queen / wife thing is purely a race relation factor with a pointless quest and afterwards she has zero function. Do not buy this game.

Really disapointed!
I really enjoyed the other Divinity games, so I preordered this; now really regret doing so. The characters are colourful, but two of the generals are assholes. The Risk style overmap is interesting, with cards providing vast differences in power at times. This can be a real problem if you are doing badly or a real asest if you are doing well. The RTS section is just shit; here's why: I started the first battle of the game and started clicking on stuff to discover what it does. However within the first minute, the enemy had already invaded my side and all I was presented with were some tutorial videos; I didn't even notice them until I'd already lost. The first battle in ANY game should be piss easy and give you all the time you want to explore every little thing, with the conclusion being forgone in the players favour. In conclusion, while there are a lot of interesting points, there are just as many really shitty design choices in this game. I don't recommend it.
