Disco Elysium - The Final Cut

I tried Owl Father for a week and couldn't kill him, but after buy this game, I finally beat him just 1 try. This game is blessed!

Let me put it this way: Every time I thought this game couldn't get better, it got better in unexpected ways. I've lost count of how often I've unraveled into a fit of laughter or gasped or the number of times my mouth's dropped open in disbelief. I'm not exaggerating. This game has been my life for the past several weeks, and I'm an older, pickier gamer who just doesn't get absorbed like this anymore. This is what a true Planescape, Fallout 1, Undertale, etc. successor should look like. It's weird, it's hilarious, it's thoughtful, it keeps you guessing with its vast array of plot threads, it's real, and when it's too real it pulls back quickly so as to not exhaust you with emotion. If this isn't the best CRPG ever made, it's in the top three. The writing is incredible. Masterful even. There are a few typos here and there, but the pedant in me doesn't even care given the quality of the writing. I'm the sort of person who advises you to always wait for a sale. Never put money down for a game today that you could get in a few months for a fraction of the cost. This is not one of those games you wait for. This is one of those very rare games you gladly pay full price for - and honestly, $40 is an absolute steal.

This is THE game that will take us by its hand and lead us toward the End. You praticed. You can do this. You have been sober for 13 hours straight. STRAIGHT. Just be calm. And be nice. No need to be MEAN against all those ultraliberal game studios. They are all a bunch of racists anyway. You got this. Give this *incredible* game the review it *deserves*. Go. Do it. NOW. One of the best games I have played in the last years. There is really much text, but it's worth reading it, since it's always interesting; so are the story and the characters.

Think this. Your typical good rpg adventure game, build your character, figure out what stats you want, adventure into the world. You go about fighting battles, looting containers, doing quests, fetch this, look at this, explore here. You pass various attribute and skill checks and can make up the smart mage, or sly thief, or bruting warrior. Now, instead of a fantasy npc character your a detective who you can build different ways. And now take out any combat or fighting. That is what you have here, a rpg adventure game without a party, without fighting, just a game of fetch quests and attribute/skill checks. While different and entertaining, it is pretty boring after a while as the entire game is trying to figure out just 1 murder. Oh, and passing a zillion attribute/skill checks while looting stuff and building up your skills. If you want a fun normal rpg game, buy one of the dozens out there, if you want something a little different, buy it on sale only.
