Originally developed by Synergistic Software and released in 1997, Hellfire was not an official Blizzard product and did not carry Blizzard’s endorsement or label. Despite that, in response to Diablo players who have expressed a desire to experience the content, Blizzard has given the OK for it to be included as a free add-on with Diablo purchases on GOG.COM.
Hellfire offers a non-canonical single-player storyline where players must defeat a powerful demon named Na-Krul who is threatening Tristram. The expansion also adds a Monk class, new weapons and items, new missions, locations, dungeons, and enemies. Hellfire will be accessible while launching the original Diablo.
Battle.net® multiplayer requires you to configure the Router and Firewall Ports, details can be found here.

NOT an out of season April's Fools joke
I own a physical copy of this game so probably won't be buying a digital duplicate but... Whoever says this game is outdated doesn't know a good thing if it hit him with a brick. It is better than Diablo 2, it is better than Diablo 3. It is when people who loved what they were doing made games; before corporate take-overs of developers tried to shove cellphone games catered for the asian market in front of a harcore Diablo fanbase. Stop reading this damn it, just go and play it! GO!

Oldschool
The first game of that kind I've ever played. Has been fascinating then and makes still addicted today. I love its old graphics and atmospheric sound- truely a masterpiece.

Your death will be avenged.
Probably one of the best game to get with just 10 bucks, not to mention I got it from a Winter Sale! The nostalgia that this game brings to me is priceless. Also the fact that it was refined by GOG so that a 1997 game can be played perfectly on a 1920px screen without any resolution loss is wonderful! I've never felt this happy buying a game before, thank you so much GOG for this! 10/5 stars for you

Good game for nostalgia...
A lone game of Diablo saga that today are more tailored to hardliner fans, or curious that wanted to play the earliest real time RPG games, in total contrast to the turn based JRPG. The only drawback is the GOG package the original game engine with a minimum compatiblity tools, which are good for purists, but ignores the possibility to add newer third-party engines that make the game more portable to new hardware or operating systems. On my Debian 10 machine I need to use the dgVoodoo2 + DXVK combo to play the GOG version of this game, in expense to warp DirectX 3 over Direct3D 11, and again over Vulkan. The DevilutionX engine makes a more vanilla experience, but not run Hellfire so far. Otherwise is a old game that represents the beginning of a great saga, but the playability only improves just after the Diablo 2 games.
