Good remake, but...

The good: --Solid gameplay and performance. --Retained some difficulty from the original, even after the patches. --Integrated gameplay features from later DAH titles as QoL changes. --Graphics are nice without being taxing. The bad: --Very little was added in the way of it being a proper remake; it's in that limbo zone of being more than a remaster and not quite what most would consider a 'remake'. --Nickel-and-diming for skins only to make some of them free later on just feels worthless, especially since this is a single-player game with no multiplayer and direct enough gameplay so that your appearance is of secondary concern. --After the responses from the developers over the cut content issue, I'm very concerned for the future if this is the first of multiple remakes. Their replies read as infantile and very "neo-lib", so it's entirely probable that more of the risque content will be cut or edited if they revamp subsequent titles. Summary: $30+ into the pockets of some shady devs for what is essentially an easier version of DAH with better graphics. Is it worth it to you?

This is a great remake!

I've only played a few minutes so far. I'm looking forward to more. It looks significantly better than the original XBOX version.

Almost Perfect

On the plus side the DAH remake has largely kept the gameplay the same as the original games, The story, music, voice acting and humour has all been kept the same which is a breath of fresh air in this politically correct world we now live in. Graphics have been brought up to date, some new abilities such as dash and repulse have been added and transmog has been imported from DAH2. All of which improve the game over the original. Why then do I only give it 4 stars and not 5? Firstly some skills have become more fiddly to use than they were in the original, holobob and refilling your saucers shields are particularly fiddly. Secondly your telekinesis abilities feel nerfed, I was unable to pick up the robots even with it fully upgraded which you could in the original. You also get the best skills much later now than you did in the original. Awareness of the npc's also seems much higher than it was in the original and far more enemies will be spawned, this is a double edged sword, more enemies can make the game more fun but can also make missions more annoying. However all of these things would not make me drop a star from this game, what did however is what they have done to the final boss. In this remake they have added some total BS moves to the final boss which can totally deplete your shields in one hit, it can also hit you from anywhere, so you spend most of the fight hiding or retreating trying to get your shields back, it is also a very long fight which I found more annoying and artificially difficult than genuinely challenging. This is something I've noticed in a lot of recent games such as Ashen, Remnants from the Ashes, Sekiro, Bloodstained Ritual of the night etc which all have artificially difficult cheap and nasty final bosses. There was no reason for them to do that here and it left a sour taste in my mouth, Overall A brilliant game but be aware some things have chenged for the better and some for the worse and the final boss is BS.

One of the best games I've played

CONTEXT: I played this game as a child, roughly around when I was 8 or 9 years old. So, take that into consideration. However, I wish to note that this implies I would hold the game to a higher standard than normal. This game is honestly some of the most fun I've had with a video game in the past couple years. I've bought it twice, 30$ both times, on this platform and on steam, just to give more money to the developers, in hopes they'll remaster Destroy all Humans 2. The story and tone of the game are just pitch-perfect. And the environmental details in regards to the style, iconography, and audio are superb and some of the best I've ever seen. Sure, at the end of the day, this game is from 2005 and it's missions haven't changed. The game has been refined and brought to a modern standard in regards to user-experience. But I can't stress this enough: while that would still be a good deal for most remakes, this game keeps that style and just loudly and proudly flaunts the 1950s sci-fi A E S T H E T I C. If you want a game that's a heavily detailed RPG with an indepth storyline and immersive atmosphere, buy the Witcher 3, it's a great game. If you want a game that'll be a blast to play, and will create an addiction to carnage and laughs, buy this game. B U Y T H I S G A M E It's a serious blast. In terms of graphics and all that, just go watch the gameplay. You'll seriously enjoy this one.

I love this game, but...

I played this game on Xbox way back in the day. And I beat it. I love the sense of humor, the absolute silliness of the whole thing, and I feel they carried that over to this remake quite well. The game controls great, the humor is still intact, and if feels great to blow everything up. So why 2/5? The bugs. Especially toward the end of the game. I literally cannot beat the final level because the game keeps glitching out. Controls lock and send me flying in random directions (to my death). The framerate suddenly stutters and I cannot react fast enough to incoming attacks (I adjusted my settings, made no difference). That's not even mentioning a bunch of audio drops, graphical glitches, controller problems I had with this game. And it is not me. All my other games work just fine, with and without controllers. I love this game. So much. And I want to give it a good review. But I can't. This remake left me deeply disappointed by the end, to the point where I don't want to play it anymore. And I don't think I will be purchasing any of the other Destroy all Humans games if they get remade either. Because I love the second game even more than the first, and I don't want my memories ruined by game breaking bugs.
