Prepare To Start Your Descent.

Sensory overload in 360° 3-D.

Welcome to Descent™ - 27 levels of the most mind-bending, stomach-churning action game ever. Featuring true 3-Dimensional worlds with light source shading, texture mapping, 3-D morphing, directional sound effects and sizzling music, this is technology taken to the limit.

Something has happened at Lunar Base I. The Post-Terran Mining Company has lost contact with the miners and none of the mining robots are responding. The PTMC has brought in you the Material Defender to deal with the situation. Your mission is to find any survivors and find the source of threat. You will start a journey that takes you from the Moon to Pluto. Best of luck Material Defender.

Lunge straight down mine shafts, twist around never-ending tunnels and fight your way past robotic menaces in an environment that's truly 6 degrees of freedom... move up, move down, shoot everything everywhere. Hang onto your senses (and your lunch) as you drop straight down mine shafts on a ride that'll leave you spinning.

And what's the good of losing your mind if you can't share the experience with your friends? Descent invites you and your buddies to dive into the action together with head-to-head combat and cooperative two-player modem and eight-player network support.

Great stuff!

I just love it. Absolutely love it. The graphics are great. Sure, those around today might be really developed and all, but those of Descent I and II compare. From projectiles to lighting to explosions, textures and other things, everything just fits... like a puzzle, one might say. Sounds are equally great. Descent's soundtrack never seems to get old. Descent II's soundtrack, specifically, is phenomenal. I'm referring to the midi, not the redbook, but that's also great stuff. Gameplay in single-player is great! Lots of challenging mine layouts, robots with unique strengths and weaknesses... really. I haven't had the privilege of playing multi-player, but from video montages I've viewed online, it looks intense. It's undoubtedly fun to watch, if not play. The whole movement deal with Descent is awesome. Hands down. It's challenging, enthralling, and oh-so-fun! It gave a friend of mine motion-sickness 'n' vertigo 'n' stuff. How cool is that, huh? Gameplay's quite balanced. Everything has a strength or strengths, everything has a weakness or weaknesses. The game's easy to learn and difficult to master. Overall, it's awesome, unique, fun and just about every other compliment I could give it. I just wish, for sake of clarity and whatnot, that they'd both be redone exactly as they are, but with today's graphics and such. Imagine that! Of course, this is just the tip of the iceberg, and I'm fairly certain I'd forgotten to mention some things... but don't settle for reviews. There are demos, videos and other relevant things on the net. Take a look if you're curious! Heck, take a look anyway. Happy flying!

My old addiction, can't wait

I just saw these games here and will buy them when I get home from work. I used to belong to a Clan that fought other clans in multi-player mode. It was so much fun, Love the Proximity mines in D2, they are my favorite. I used to plant them next to a door on the other side while being chased by the enemy. BOOM! bye bye. I cant wait to play again. I just hope there are still other players online. I cant remember what service I used. Does anyone know?

Way ahead of its time

Descent was the first game to truly creep me out with the uncanny AI of the enemy robots. The storyline of the game was equally unnerving - being sent to remote mining colonies to hunt down mining robots gone rogue. One of my all-time favs.

Descent 2: My first CD-ROM.

Okay, I'll give you a little insight as to how much I love(d) this game. I was in 2nd grade. The day I bought it from Circuit City and brought it home, I was immediately hooked. I stayed on my Gateway 2000 for hours until I developed a fever and had to go to bed. Not long after, I wrote a 16 page short story based on the story given in the game. I was OBSESSED. Over the years, my copy deteriorated, O/S's started to hate it, and I was unable to play it for the longest time. Descent 3 gave me a little solace, but it was no replacement. When I found it on here, I immediately dropped everything I was doing, called in sick to work, and got the frak to it. Everything is JUST as I remembered it. The Cutscenes. THE CUTSCENES! This ALMIGHTY game is, and will always be my favorite videogame of all time. DUDDABOO!

"This is Vertigo One on approach to PTMC outer rim station MIL123, requesting clearance to dock..." OMG these games on Heat.net were SO fun.
