Prepare To Start Your Descent.

Sensory overload in 360° 3-D.

Welcome to Descent™ - 27 levels of the most mind-bending, stomach-churning action game ever. Featuring true 3-Dimensional worlds with light source shading, texture mapping, 3-D morphing, directional sound effects and sizzling music, this is technology taken to the limit.

Something has happened at Lunar Base I. The Post-Terran Mining Company has lost contact with the miners and none of the mining robots are responding. The PTMC has brought in you the Material Defender to deal with the situation. Your mission is to find any survivors and find the source of threat. You will start a journey that takes you from the Moon to Pluto. Best of luck Material Defender.

Lunge straight down mine shafts, twist around never-ending tunnels and fight your way past robotic menaces in an environment that's truly 6 degrees of freedom... move up, move down, shoot everything everywhere. Hang onto your senses (and your lunch) as you drop straight down mine shafts on a ride that'll leave you spinning.

And what's the good of losing your mind if you can't share the experience with your friends? Descent invites you and your buddies to dive into the action together with head-to-head combat and cooperative two-player modem and eight-player network support.

Get ready for Descent...

Six Degrees of WIN

I've been playing the Descent series for more than half my life. Ever since my father introduced me to the demo of Descent 1 sometime in the mid-90s, I've been obsessed with the series. I've spent so much time with all three games, going over all the levels so many times that I pretty much know the first few levels of Descent 1 by heart. Descent is an interesting hybrid of two genres of games: First Person Shooter and Flight Sim. You have level layouts like all the good 90s-era FPSs, think Doom here, but you control a tiny little starfighter, able to fly anywhere in the zero-G environment. Now, obviously you're not just exploring here, there are tons of mining robots all aiming to kill you, many of which are excellent at it. Not that you're really defenseless; you have a plethora of weapons at your disposal, from a simple laser to a vulcan minigun, to a fusion cannon. You also have a range of secondary weapons, from simply dumbfire missiles to fly-by-wire missiles, to proximity mines, to the fearsome Mega Missile. Descent is about as action-packed as you can get. Descent II (or, rather, Descent ][) only ups the ante. The amount of weapons are doubled, far more enemies are added, and more stages are added, making Descent II the definitive Descent game. That's not to say that Descent 1 pales in comparison; both games are just about some of the best old-school action entertainment you're likely to get on the PC. For $6, you can't afford not to give it a try.

Greatest classic multiplayer

This game was great because of its join/drop on the fly support which makes it easy to set up and enjoy multiplayer carnage. This was one of my favourites to play on Kali and now thanks to DosBOX multiplayer is easy yet again
