The book is etter

I bought this in the big box format and it included the Ian Livingston RPG paperback book in the package. As a game I enjoyed it and loated it in equal amounts. Very cheap and quick deaths which frustrate and anoy mora than spur you on to win. The box offered the book which was a saving grace to the game. I dont think the book is given here in PDF format, which is a shame as that would make me raise the star rating to 4. To be honest its a middling game and 1 to play on a wet sunday afternoon only

Underrated Game

Deathtrap Dungeon is highly underrated, because it's a very hard, challenging game! It's not in the same style as Livingstone's book, but it has a unique taste. The GOG version includes the Bestiary, and the annoying music bug (plays the same track on every level) is fixed now!

Excellent atmosphere

Game has excellent atmosphere. The late Richard Halliwell was a lead designer, and boy is it fun! Control have age like bad cheddar, but the soundtrack and enemies will keep you playing.

Not Memorable

I bought this game when it was first released and the graphics even then were not good I played as Lotus simply because the male character was, to me, so badly modelled that I did not want to play using it. I remember there being equal moments of enjoyment and frustration and having to replay some sections many times. After completing it I never wanted to replay as the male character.The game unlike many others that I played during the 90's left no memorable moments even seeing the screenshots brought back no feelings of nostalga.

A Poor Game That Hasn't Aged Well

If you are excited that GOG.com now has Deathtrap Dungeon, it's because of the following reasons: 1. Nostalgia And that's about it. The original game was poor in quality even for its time. It was one of the original Eidos titles that followed in the wake of the vastly superior Tomb Raider, and it pretty much gets everything wrong -- poor level design, awful controls, dull character design (with prominent boobs!) and little replayability. At the time, it was considered action/horror, but the genre has drastically evolved since then. The title might suggest that this game is something in the vein of Orcs Must Die! or Dungeon Keeper. But don't be fooled -- it's a fairly dull hack and slash from the era when blocky 3D graphics were still a novelty.
