Death to Spies

Death to Spies looks pretty good actually, however, it seems at least for AMD users, changing the resolution AT ALL overworks the CPU crashing the game. This means either deal with playing at 800x600 or uninstall and reinstall everything for hours. Shame on GOGs poor quality here.

I want to play the game but the colors are mondo bizzarro, like a severe psychedelic trip. I can't even adjust the settings in game because the graphics are so whacked out. Think Cruelty Squad but unintentionally bad. Can anyone offer any help? I'm not playing on a top-of-the-line system and no graphics card and upgrading is not part of my plan.

A confusing, polished mess of a game.

This review has nothing to do with the game itself. I haven't bought it and I will never buy it no matter how good it would be. The reason is simple. Smersh (Death to Spies) was responsible for thousands of systematic crimes against Soviet citizens, Soviet soldiers, and civil population. One of the main tasks of Smersh was to "FILTER" Soviet soldiers who were escaping or liberated from Nazi captivity, to "FILTER OUT" the German spies among them - and paranoid Stalin, who personally created Smersh and given it this name, saw spies everywhere - to the point that even after the war, who'd not eat anything until it was tasted by one of his staff. From 1941 to 1945, Smersh arrested about 700 thousand (that's right, 0.7 million!) Soviet citizens, of which 70 THOUSAND were executed by shooting. After capturing and liberating several Nazi concentration camps, these camps were not closed, but turned over to Smersh, and continued to function as Soviet concentration camps for people who objected to Soviet occupation of Poland and Eastern Germany. In the Buchenwald Nazi camp Smersh kept 60,000 prisoners for several years after 1945. The head of Smersh, Abakumov, was arrested, tried and executed in 1954. I wonder if somebody would create a game called GESTAPO, or SCHUTZSTAFFEL (SS) - would it be getting raving reviews as well? So go ahead and enjoy the game, if you can.
