... with a few quirks. Technical side is decent, story is tolerable, gameplay is correct although numbingly annoying at times because it is far from precise.
I don't see much difference between this "Director's Cut" and the original, so if you've got that one, don't bother I'd say.
I really don't have much good to say about this game. The story completely sucks. Many characters are introduced and there is no story or thought put behind them and they simply die off or disappear pretty quickly. The gameplay *could* have been good if the game was longer and things were possibly put to use.
You get a slingshot about 2/3rds into the game which is required for a certain special stage. You never ever EVER use it again (ar at least have to). The shotgun I think I used once. The pistol barely at all. This game is almost all parkour which is not very good at anyways, It's an all around bad package. I would write more in this review but I feel this already wasted enough of my time. 2 stars for being ok enough for me to finish in one sitting which was about 2 and a half hours.
I'm about two hours into this game, and I'm really enjoying the experience. I own Limbo, Little Nightmares, and This War of Mine - and while it may not rank as the top dog of it's sylistic neighbors, Deadlight definitely earned the right to hang with the pack. The graphics are well crafted and create an appropriatly depressing and apocolyptic mood, and the sound design is first rate.
Those who've complained about the controls must be having issues with their computer, or simply have no patience to learn some keyboard muscle memory. I'm kind of a klutz with my fingers, and if I'm doing fine - you can too.
The puzzles are challenging, without being super annoying - which I appreciate - and I've not had any issues progressing. I haven't once had to reference a cheat guide. The story details are a bit sparse at this point, but what's clear is that they are leading somewhere interesting.
Whether it's on sale or not (and often is) it's worth a try.
