Description
You are Isaac Clarke, an engineer on the spacecraft USG Ishimura. You're not a warrior. You're not a soldier. You are, however, the last line of defense between the remaining living crew and deadly reanimated corpses. The undead have become Necromorphs; horrific zombie-alien hybrids that won't succumb to traditional means. Fortunately, your offense is equally unique, as the high-powered mining tools at your disposal provide the means to fight against the threat.

Messy monster slaying.
The Necromorphs are unlike any enemies you've seen before. Headshots do about as much damage to them as flicking rubber bands. To survive, you'll need to dismember their insect-like limbs, one at a time.

Improvised weapons.
There aren't many traditional firearms aboard the Ishimura, but there's plenty of stopping power in Isaac's toolkit. Send horizontal or vertical blasts of energy at enemies with the Plasma Cutter, remotely control a high-speed sawblade with the Disc Ripper, and fill hallways with wide swaths of destruction with the Line Gun. Switch things up with alternate fire modes, and purchase upgrades to increase ammo, power, and reload speed.

Real-time attacks.
Whatever you do, don’t drop your guard. Everything takes place in real-time. That means any action you take, whether it be reloading or digging through your inventory, gives the Necromorphs a perfect opportunity to attack. This nightmare has just begun and it’s up to you to get to the bottom of what happened here.

When fixing things means rendering apart

Imagine you are an average Joe called Isaac Clarke with a degree in engineering, working in space maintaining and repairing things. Awesome enough, right? When things take a turn to the wrong and everything comes to a screeching halt, an engineer has to do what an engineer has to do. If that includes getting rid of unwanted growth to get the ship back to working, so be it. I played it first on PS3 and was immersed in the dark and moody atmosphere of the U.S.G. Ishimura. Even when the first few minutes are relatively calm to set up the story and scenery, things go bad quickly and you learn very fast, that something has gone horrifyingly bad on the Ishimura. Instead of repairing machinery, you now face terrifying nightmares and fend them off to maintain your health. And you learn quite fast that the best way to do so is to render them apart. The hidden humor in this problem is that in order to fix it, you have to slap it hard enough. The graphics have aged well for the age of 14 years, the sounds will make a shiver crawl up your spine at times and the writing, oh yes the writing. You will take a glance into the abyss of human corruption. With a church full of corruption, with human minds slowly being corrupted by an alien artifact and the bodily corruption on full display in front of you, twisting and turning the human body into wicked, necrotic forms for killing, spreading the nightmare from corpse to corpse. If you die in this game, you will not simply drop dead into a puddle of blood, no, no, no... You will do so in most spectacular ways. This game will take you and plunge you into an atmosphere of dread, suspiscion and body horror. Very few games manage to do that these days, so go ahead and buy it, even more so if it's on sale. It will be your loss for not having this experience at least once.

Just few tips.

Better experience with a controller. Vsync in option game limit to 30 fps, for 60 fps use Vsync of your GC option. Dead Space looks too bright on PC. Simply putting the brightness down in game is not enough ( or option of my screen ). I use "Vanilla Fix (for Brightness problem)" preset with SweetFX. This preset don't change the original experience. It fix the brightness problem & just add more colour, but not too much. Perfect in my opinion. Thx to daAmazinFatB0y. The game? A classic horror sci-fi story. Great ambiance, visual ( try the preset, really :) ) & sound. Puzzle too easy. Some weapon are really useless. Thx Issac don't speak ! Good game, the best of the trilogy. Its story is sufficient in itself. My advice : start with the hard difficulty.

Best one in the series

This is by far the scariest video game I've ever played and the best in the dead space series. The latter two improve on combat and add some cool weapons and ways to move around, but they lack the feel of the first game. You play as Isaac, an engineer sent with a team to a mining ship that's gone silent to see if you can recover it. What you discover there is a complete nightmare of alien lifeforms taking over, and you're thrown into a quest to try to survive and make it home. Along the way you discover bits and pieces of what happened to the ship and it's really eerie. What makes the game so scary is the over the shoulder camera view gives you just enough vision but not quite enough to see what's to your side or around the corner. So stuff pops out at you all the time and it never ceases to be scary. You'll hear sounds of necromophs (the alien lifeforms) coming and start scanning the room, is it over there, no here! And all the sudden a bunch of them are on you tearing you to pieces and you're flailing your weapon frantically to try to escape. It's frightening to be stalked in such a manner. And even more frightening when you know you're about to enter a room full of them low on ammo... Another cool thing I liked is Isaac never talks in this one and you never see his face. It makes you really feel like you *are* Issac since he's not revealed as a character. The later two he talks freely and you see his expressions all the time so it feels like you are playing as a pre-existing character, not experiencing the horror first hand. It was a somewhat minor design decision but it makes a really big difference in game feel imo. Just get this game, it's awesome. It plays fine with mouse and keyboard or a controller.

Uncontrollable Camera Spin

I have Dead Space on both Orgin and Steam, and found it unplayable. The Issue is the Camera spins uncontrollably around the Characters head and cannot be stopped. I am currently running Windows 10. It is possible that this may not be an issue with the GOG download, however if it is there with two other providers then the chances are good that the GOG version will have the same problem.
