Description
You are Isaac Clarke, an engineer on the spacecraft USG Ishimura. You're not a warrior. You're not a soldier. You are, however, the last line of defense between the remaining living crew and deadly reanimated corpses. The undead have become Necromorphs; horrific zombie-alien hybrids that won't succumb to traditional means. Fortunately, your offense is equally unique, as the high-powered mining tools at your disposal provide the means to fight against the threat.

Messy monster slaying.
The Necromorphs are unlike any enemies you've seen before. Headshots do about as much damage to them as flicking rubber bands. To survive, you'll need to dismember their insect-like limbs, one at a time.

Improvised weapons.
There aren't many traditional firearms aboard the Ishimura, but there's plenty of stopping power in Isaac's toolkit. Send horizontal or vertical blasts of energy at enemies with the Plasma Cutter, remotely control a high-speed sawblade with the Disc Ripper, and fill hallways with wide swaths of destruction with the Line Gun. Switch things up with alternate fire modes, and purchase upgrades to increase ammo, power, and reload speed.

Real-time attacks.
Whatever you do, don’t drop your guard. Everything takes place in real-time. That means any action you take, whether it be reloading or digging through your inventory, gives the Necromorphs a perfect opportunity to attack. This nightmare has just begun and it’s up to you to get to the bottom of what happened here.

Bad PC controls have a solution

I'm still in-game, so cannot rate it as a whole, but more important is that "bad controls issue" is fixable. Basically, you need to stick as close to 60FPS whole in-game time as possible. Going more or less will cause infamous mouse/camera horrid performance. Thing is, just vertical sync is not enough - you need your GPU PRODUCING 60 FPS, not just sending 60 frames at the output. Now short to do: 1. Turn in-game Vert sync OFF (bugged). 2. Turn driver Vert sync "Always ON". 3. Use Framerate Limiter tools - try driver options first, but my AMD settings did not do that correctly. 4. In case previous step did nothing, use special Framerate Limiter software (at your own risk, ' course). I use and recommend RadeonPro. Instruction for Dead Space tweaks here: https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=149371948. In addition, just to be sure, activate "Lock frame rate up to monitor's refresh rate" in Tweaks tab also. I'm sure NVidia also has similar software available somewhere. Good luck and have fun.

Devs still can't fix this game.

A black screen every time I launch the game, I tried every fix and still nothing. This is present in the steam version as well, and there is no fix patch from either distributor or the devs.

Hope GOG releases 2nd one...

1st one is good too, took me almost 8h to completly beat it. I recommend to buy this on sale tho, cuz game might not be worth full price on this platform (16.19 EUR with 50% perhaps)

Still terrifying

Dead Space doesn't rely on cheap jump scares. It builds a world, where the atmosphere is oppressive and the enemies inspire dread. Most games that label themselves horror fail to scare you after a first playthrough every so called scary moment anticipated. Dead Space retains it's freshness and is a game that people love or hate because no matter how many times you play it, it's still scary.

Pretty good

Blatant Resident Evil 4 ripoff with a blatant Gordon Freeman ripoff wannabe protagonist wearing a blatant ripoff of the armor from Lost in Space (1998). Still, the whole is greater than the sum of its parts and it's not bad. Shame about the sequels...
