In this remarkable kingdom simulator, your goal is to become Emperor by building and expanding your stronghold in competition against opposing computer-controlled kingdoms. Choose three courses of action to achieve Emperor status: Lawful (Maximizing the prosperity and morale of your poulace; Chaotic (total military victory over all your enemies); or Neutral (striving to achieve both objectives, the toughest challenge of all).
All the details of running a kingdom must be dealt with: Construction, farmland, population, housing, troops, morale and changing seasons - and, of course, a multitude of D&D game monsters. Micro-manage all these factors personally if you want absolute control, or let the computer do much of it for you. Choose from pre-created worlds or computer-generated random scenarios for a new challenge every time. With the intuitive mouse-driven command interface, running your own kingdom has never been more fun, fast or easy!
Build your own Dungeons & Dragons game kingdom with over 100 structures including castles, forges, mines, marketplaces, towers, temples, cottages, schools of magic and granaries
Micro-manage every detail of running a kingdom or let the computer handle most of the chores
Computer-generated random scenarios offer unlimited hours of fun and excitement
In the original box there was a card that described the buildings each character could construct. Without this, it's nearly impossible to build a balanced economy.

Subjective Review
I thought I'd give this game a chance to beat me so didn't choose to start with any magic users. Bad move. You need magic in order to beat some of the baddies. Made it close to the final confrontation, ran into, I think they were steel golems, watched my entire army get routed. This is one of those games where the gameplay is the story. In other words, each person will make their own as the building/battles play out. It's fun! I was pleasantly surprised. I would advise you play a short game at the start, one you don't intend to continue, just to familiarize yourself with all the mechanics. Get into a battle early so you can learn how to move your "troops" about. If you follow my advice, I can almost guarantee you'll enjoy this. Almost, because, well, games are subjective. I never found it tedious. There's also something about building armies that you have no input over when they go to battle. Something I personally like. Gives me more of a feeling of being a commander and either celebrating a victory (that you had no part in) or burying the dead (that was all your fault).
If you didn't play this game when it came out, good luck learning it now. Horrendous controls will have you scratching your head, wondering what you're supposed to do or if time is moving forward. I'm sure this game is fine if you've mastered the controls but from playing for 10 minutes I have no desire to continue further.
