Description
Return to an apocalyptic Earth in Darksiders III, a hack-n-slash Action Adventure where players assume the role of FURY in her quest to hunt down and dispose of the Seven Deadly Sins. The most unpredictable and enigmatic of the Four Horsemen, FURY must succeed where many have failed – to bring balance to the forces that now ravage Earth. Darksiders III is the long-anticipated, third chapter in the critically-acclaimed Darksiders franchise.

  • Play as FURY - a mage who must rely on her whip and magic to restore the balance between good and evil on Earth!
  • Harness FURY’s magic to unleash her various forms – each granting her access to new weapons, moves and traversal abilities.
  • Explore an open-ended, living, free-form game world in which FURY moves back and forth between environments to uncover secrets while advancing the story.
  • Defeat the Seven Deadly Sins and their servants who range from mystical creatures to degenerated beings.
  • Sit in awe of Darksiders signature art style – expansive post-apocalyptic environments that take the player from the heights of heaven to the depths of hell, dilapidated by war and decay and overrun by nature.

Don't believe the (anti) hype

Graphics, animations and art style are all top-notch and music, sound design and voice acting are all superb, as we came to expect of the Darksiders series. Story felt a bit worse than the previous two games with character actions and motivations feeling murkier than before, some deus ex machina moments, references to unknown events, etc. Nothing immersion-breaking, it's just that some more lore and explanations would do it good especially for a third installment. Gameworld feels more confined than before, but much more composed and packed with content, both graphically and gameplay-wise. The environments are immersive and very well done. Comparisons with Dark Souls are largely misleading, I thought it had much more in common with Metroid Prime than Dark Souls, but to each their own. The combat can be a little unforgiving at times, especially if you're expecting Darksiders I combat, but if you keep at it you genuinely get better and start to appreciate it. It's largely similar to how Assassin's Creed Origins felt different to its prequels. I had my doubts about whether the dev team would be able to nail down that Darksiders vibe (especially after that Deathinitive edition fiasco), but it proved to be largely unfounded as this game truly "feels" like first and second installments and gives no hints that it was actually developed by a different team. It's not as good as Darksiders II, but that's not saying much since hardly any game is. I consider it better than Darksiders I, although with a similar gameplay vibe. Finally, having played the game I have no clue why it was so ill-received by mainstream game reviewers, even by some that I considered close to my tastes. The game is more than just okay, it's actually very good. I bought it at another store at a hefty discount but now I'm sorry I didn't buy it here at full price just to support the devs.

Very fun!

Found this game quite fun in a simplistic hack 'n slash kinda way and I think this is my new favourite in the series. Of course because this game is slightly difficult and has a few soulslike elements it gets constantly compared to Dark Souls but the combat itself honestly felt more like Bayonetta to me with a couple of RPG stats thrown in.

Unfortunately i can't recommend!

Welcome to the ultimate battle vs… the camera and poor moveset of fury. The art is great and the style of the world top notch! But the protagonist fury is annoying which is a shame because the female watcher is amazing. Along with the personality of the Sins is something you can really enjoy. I never felt powerful or a member of the horsemen playing as fury unfortunately. I would not recommend this game unless a deep discount applies. Go for Darksiders 1 or 2… Haven’t played 4 yet so wait and see i guess?

A Poor 3rd Entry

The Darksiders series can't decide what kind of games it should have. The first was a wonderful Zelda like game with an interesting story and mature atmosphere. The second game was less like Zelda and more like a regular RPG, but it still maintained the puzzle oriented feel. This new game is nothing like the old games, and as a fan of the first two it is immensely disappointing. Darksiders 3 almost entirely combat focused, and its not very good at it. The series has never had great combat, but before it was always a side part, not the main show. While it is more complex it also isn't very fun. It feels like a game more focused on single target combat but is always throwing mobs of enemies at you. The enemy design is also very weak and often has poorly telegraphed attacks. The story was fine, none of the games have incredibly story telling but the world building is good and its entertaining. However after this game I sadly have no desire to see anymore. The series clearly has no direction and after this mess I don't think we'll be getting another one anyways. I'm giving it 2 stars because its just bad, not broken.

A mess from beginning to end...

I am a veteran to the series, I own the previous two titles across many platforms, including GoG, as I got them in a bundle including this third game. Ow boy, where to begin. Technical: The game is RAW, raw as in uncooked, because undercooked is a massive understatement, it's littered with bugs and glitches, with poor response times and bad game design. Here is a short list of things that have gone wrong: Input latency: I noticed it when I capped it to 60 FPS, not that bad in higher FPS (144 in my case). (Reverse) Mouse Acceleration: Hard locked, cannot be changed. Extremely poor lock on camera: It is too close to the player character, it blocks your view and it's angled poorly making it hard to judge distance and it will happily drop the lock if so much as a pixel of terrain gets in between you two. Crashes, Several crashes happened, as someone with standards, 1 crash is too many, come on. Hard locked saves, my save hard locked because I selected NO during a YES/NO dialog regarding plot development, whether I want to go beyond the point of no return. Selecting NO hard locked the game by removing my means to progress, developers supposedly investigated the issue a year ago, as seen on the Steam forums, this never got fixed and if had restarted my game, GoG Galaxy would have over-written my save file, thankfully I downloaded a backup trough Galaxy before quitting, allowing me to roll back, this is so bad, I should refund it for this reason alone, 30 hours in, I would have been left with absolutely nothing. No joke, default Unreal Engine 4 texture are used on some containers and they are right in front of the player, 4 of them right before a boss fight. I have 24 documented images of these babies. More, but I have a character count, please remove it @GoG! Narrative: There is basically no lore or story, it's all shoved in to the last 2 hours across 30m max of, DS1 and 2 did it right with intrigue and deep, clever writing.
