Return to an apocalyptic Earth in Darksiders III, a hack-n-slash Action Adventure where players assume the role of FURY in her quest to hunt down and dispose of the Seven Deadly Sins. The most unpredictable and enigmatic of the Four Horsemen, FURY must succeed where many have failed – to bring balance to the forces that now ravage Earth. Darksiders III is the long-anticipated, third chapter in the critically-acclaimed Darksiders franchise.
Play as FURY - a mage who must rely on her whip and magic to restore the balance between good and evil on Earth!
Harness FURY’s magic to unleash her various forms – each granting her access to new weapons, moves and traversal abilities.
Explore an open-ended, living, free-form game world in which FURY moves back and forth between environments to uncover secrets while advancing the story.
Defeat the Seven Deadly Sins and their servants who range from mystical creatures to degenerated beings.
Sit in awe of Darksiders signature art style – expansive post-apocalyptic environments that take the player from the heights of heaven to the depths of hell, dilapidated by war and decay and overrun by nature.
This is so refreshingly old school, fun and somehow,a strangely gorgeous game. Most of the hate comes from ppl that loved DS2 better than 1,or haven't figured out controls just yet. I do wish there was fov slider and I hope we get some sections on horseback later on. Buy this if you are tired of open world wannabe rpgs and are ready for this unique style of brawler that has almost gone extinct. I am extremely grateful that this series has been ressurected and hope they make enough to go all out on the last one.
I see a lot of people saying this game is a cheap Dark Souls ripoff, but in actuality, they should be making the comparison to Bloodborne... I've played every Souls game from Demon's Souls to DS3 plus Bloodborne to their completion, and combat-wise, it's closest to Bloodborne because of the speed of play, agility and lack of defense... that being said, I'm actually finding the game very enjoyable... visuals, tone, combat, music, story, it's all really good... I'm not letting all the hate surrounding it color my opinion and am playing it for what it is... Yes, it's very different from the previous two Darksiders games (both of which I've also played through to completion) and I'm totally fine with it taking a different direction, because this game's pacing and gameplay fit the personality of Fury, so to me, it makes sense... I actually hope for the fourth horseman's game will again mix up the formula to keep me on my toes
And I'm NOT saying this plays just like Bloodborne... merely saying that's really the best game in the Souls lineup to compare it to
But... with all that, the game still isn't perfect... there's the camera issues, dodging issues and mobs attacking you from off camera so you don't even know they're about to attack, but these should all be things that can be addressed with patches
There IS a good game here that for most people will be a good purchase once a sale hits and the patches are in, but there's also a good game here for people who want in now... no regrets here at all
Still a Gunfire Games fan ;)
If you don't like this game before, try it again with the recent patch #2. You can now choose between Default and Classic combat. Classic combat is more like Darksiders 1 & 2. The developers also improved the general performance of the game and grab detection of Fury.
Disappointed about the game. I was kinda expecting something more like Darksiders II but expanded and improved. Dark Souls features doesn’t work well here and I am a Dark Souls series fan. In Dark Souls dodging gives you invincibility frames and is limited by character stamina. Here dodging is all about perfect timing and avoiding attacks. There’s no proper strafing, you should use target lock-on or you character will move like lunatic. Camera is not convenient. Fighting multiple enemies is artificially hard because of that. Level design is average at best, reminds me Darksiders I in bad manner.
It's just not fun to play. The only defensive move is the dodge, and that comes with a litany of problems.
First: Enemy attacks almost always either track you, or have a large enough hitbox to still be a threat at the end of your dodge.
Second: I-Frames seem incredibly inconsistent. Being in the middle of a dodge animation is no guarantee you will actually dodge anything.
Third: Perfect Dodge timings are all over the place. Some enemies have an obvious telegraph. Some have a fake-out telegraph. Or a delayed telegraph. Or *no* telegraph. Or a telegraph that might have two different timings.
Fourth: Enemies appear to have a 'combo' system - if they hit you during your first dodge, they'll just keep swinging until you die.
Fifth: There's essentially no way to tell if an enemy off screen is attacking you. The threat indicators don't always show up, and they're useless for timing dodges as they only indicate direction. There's a red flash to indicate an incoming attack, but it's too late to dodge by the time you see that; you've just got to guess at the telegraph.
Sixth: While the combat is cribbing its notes from Souls, the enemy population is still Darksiders. So it's routine to run into a room and find yourself fighting 6 guys with no telegraphs.
And since it's moved onto the Souls style "Die, and do the level over again" you can get one-shot by some rando skeleton because you mis-timed a dodge, and suddenly you're back at a spawn a dozen rooms away wondering "Why?"
