I am writing this under an appreciable mental strain, since by tonight I shall be no more.
Dagon is a 3D narrative experience in madness based on the cult short story of the same title by the master of cosmic horror and weird fiction, H. P. Lovecraft himself. It’s an interactive portal into the world of the controversial genius and his highly acclaimed Cthulhu Mythos, open to both newcomers and long-time devotees.
The change happened whilst I slept.
Step into the shoes of a former ship officer and morphine fiend, and dive into the Stygian Abyss of a drug-addled mind. Uncover the unspeakable, long-drowned horrors on a distant eldritch island and wallow in Lovecraftian dread.
I think I went mad then.
So make yourself comfortable in front of the screen and experience cosmic horror first-hand in this 100% faithful adaptation of the original story. It will only take about 30 minutes, but you may never look at the ocean the same way.
Features:

discover the origin of the Cthulhu Mythos and the twisted world of H. P. Lovecraft

buy an optional DLC to support our future projects and get additional goodies (including an audiobook and a screenshot-filled e-book)
Warning: side effects may include insomnia, delirium and acute cosmic horror.

An enjoyable, well animated and well narrated quick delve into the wonders of H.P. Lovecraft. Plus it is free. No reason not to give it a go.
Would love to see more of this.
Well done, I really enjoyed it, it intrieged me enough to consider the DLCs yet the price point seem high considering the value.
The naration is good, the graphics are good, the little factual bits are informative. I learned more about the area H.P. Lovecraft lived in.
However, the game has no replay value and I feel like that's a requirement for a 5 star review.
It was very immersive and I would call the indivdual portraits as animated, with a 1 click option to the next scene. Nothing to even scratch a gaming need.
I liked it but it doesn't qualify as a "game", my word processor's more interactive.
I feel generous with my 4 stars because I actually enjoyed myself for 20 minutes but I could easily see others users give it less.
Some other reviews call it a pixel-hunting game, they are right, it's the easier pixel hunt I've ever played. It was a pleasant experience but even other pixel hunting games I've played are more interactive.
This was a great reading/interpretation of a Lovecraftian short story. I really enjoyed this graphic interpretation of Dagon. The reader of the tale had a wonderful and appropriate voice for the content. It was easy to imagine oneself in the role of the protagonist and to feel the horror Lovecraft wanted to invoke. The minimalist backgrounds and the restricted movement seemed to immerse the player into the events since it was impossible to wander too far from the next phrase. Highly recommended.
I really enjoyed Dagon.
As an adaptation of short story it captured atmopsphere of cosmic horror and feeling of all-encompassing loneliness amidst the boundlessness of the ocean.
The narration stands at a high level, it put us in the right mood while the protagonist himself has a voice that - what's very important - does not tire, but with emotion tells the story that is happening right before his and (at the same time) our eyes.
In terms of gameplay it's more of an interactive story game, giving more space to its storytelling capabilities rather than player's inventivness.
While troubling and limiting, I think it helps the reception of the story - we feel more as an helpless observer, doomed for apathy - inable to do anything in the face of the horros he sees.
It's a game of certain type. If you're looking for "fireworks" and masses of action, you're unlikely to find anything here
However, if you are if you are looking for an immersive, atmospheric storyline and disturbing sights straight out of nightmares or surrealistic paintings, this game is for you ... and for Lovecraft fans ?
